your just jealous because you came late to this whole 'proper riding' thing.
go spend some time trying to extricate your tiny penis from one of the holes in the chamois pad of your FDJ lycra, and let the big boys talk.

I have a road bike (ok in bits at the moment)
I have lycra
I get a fair amount of miles in (for a commuter), fairly often break the 200 a week mark, go out on little rides on my own.
Am I a closet roadie?No, I don't have a high enough horse for it.

i.e those people who have been riding a bicycle for longer than the past 3 months, and regularly cycle further than the distance to the asymmetric haircutters and back?
I match the description but hestitate to call myself a roadie as I tend to keep my lycra shorts hidden under baggies and do not obsess about my weight. My long rides recently have been mountain, not road, so I am starting to feel confused about my cycling identity. I think I might be the bi/confused teenager of the cycling world.

You're right - I have to wear bibs all the time to keep my copious rolls of fat from reaching the floor.

Bitter middle aged men who wear skin-tight lycra, have a really expensive road-bike, and hate everyone else on the road, including other cyclists. Many have massive inferiority complexes, probably because they're not as fast as some other roadie they know, and it kills them inside. Might to use the word 'bling' and 'pimp' a lot, and has recently bought a 'fixie' (after reading various sunday publications) in a vain effort to be 'down with the kids'.
Likely to fly off the handle at any vehicle who makes a slight error on the road.

Said with the casual arrogance of a true roadie - I'm in awe.

Yeah, although my road bike is a bit underused at the moment. I've been thinking of mentioning a geared ride for a while now but wasn't sure...
If one is organised I'd be up for it.
out of interest, who are the closet roadies on the forum?
