Samuel, are you by any chance my brother? If not, then you have a lot in common with him!

unless I have a long lost sister, then I dont think so...does he ride fixed in leeds?
-
• #31
I don't think he rides fixed (but wouldn't put it past him to be secretly practising in order to out-do me), but he's "a skinny dude with facial hair from Leeds", is called Sam, and has a vaguely similar turn of phrase. I'll bring him out for a ride next time I'm Oop North.

Hi guys, just to confuzzle matters, I know you Emilia via your sister and I ride with Sam and tilover!!!
I've told your Sam about these cool guys at FixedGearLeeds but he seems uncertain as he has gears. But as you say he's just the type of guy to have a great time with us lot riding in Leeds no matter the bike.
I was talking to him yesterday and after the velodrome experience, he badly (not as much as myself I think) wants a fixed bike. He has a spare wheel so I said he could just get a new chain and sort out that the wheel.. with the horizontal dropouts, he can have a road bike and fixie in a matter of seconds! sweet

I know who YOU are!
Tell him gears are for wimps, etc., and that I am currently waaay more butch than him. That ought to do it. I need to come up and play in Leeds at some point, don't I?

P.s. Did anyone ever identify the skinny dude with facial hair on the white brakeless fixie?
-
• #35
nope not seen him. I've only ridden twice and only know a of one who rides brakeless.. a very mad Polish guy!
Yeah come up one time and get yer bro out if I've not dragged him out by then.
How's about next critical mass? I think a few of us are planning to go for the 1st time.. -

When's the next one? The 1st? I'm in Wales then. Might make it on the 29th of August though...

I take it that twowheelsgood is Kev?
-
• #38

I should be near Leeds visiting the family at the end of August. Would be well up for meeting the Leeds fixed gear contingent.

Any of you Leeds folk want/know anyone looking for a nice frame to make a fixie? Have 56cm Graham Weigh 531db frame and forks in dark red metallic with fitted Shimano 105 headset, seat post and stem attached. Stem stuck haven't tried seat post. Horizontal campy dropouts. Frame dates from about 1987 a few small chips but otherwise very nice. If not I'll chuck it on ebay

I am indeed. I was thinking about building my next bike (a fixed gear) but having tested a genesis flyer I was quite taken. I ideally want to try or talk to people about steel vs alu and off the peg versus time and cost of building..
Are you on Leeds fixed gear? a few of us meeting up tonight or go for rides during the week. -

Object - We ride every tuesday and thursday night at the moment but we're trying to organise some sort of mini event for the end of august so will keep you posted. You can email fixedgearleeds@hotmail.com or check the blog (fixedgearleeds.blogspot.com) for any updates or to get in touch with the group (if you're not on facebook).

Not on facebook.
Will definitely give you guys a few weeks notice when I'm coming up though. Sounds like we could have a riot. -

hi leeds folk.
checked out your blog - like it! - and saw the picture of the one-piece crankset on there. i like it, too, but the guys in re-cycle engineering can't take card payments over the phone.
so my question is - could someone collect and post it? i'd obviously pay you in full over paypal, and could buy you a drink at one of the london drinks (if ever we were there at the same time - i live in brighton)?
or i have a couple of stems lying around at the moment (3t - 90mm, sakae - 70mm) which you could have as a thank you. the 3t is nos, but not stunning. the sakae is well used, but serviceable - good for pub or polo bike. or a weinmann brake lever... i'm open to negotiation!
pm me if we can sort this out - i'd be much obliged!
