Why don't they have the right of reply??
-
• #103
Because "Me" hasn't told them he's unhappy with the service.
Just like you don't have the right of reply for the blog I've just put up on another website calling you a cunt ;]

?
sorry

Did me send an email letting BC know about this thread? Did he even mention to them that there was a problem? No.
If they don't even know that me had a problem, then how can they know that he has gone public on this forum, detailing his grievance? So their right of reply has been denied by omission.
That's what we're getting at. If someone thinks I am c, that's ok with me. If they tell me to my face that I am a c, well, it's not very nice, but that's their opinion. At least I get to ask them why (or just call them a c*** back). But if someone calls me a c*** to people that know me, and tells all of them why, but doesn't mention it to me, than that's not really ok, is it? That's slander, really, isn't it?

I'm still laughing at dogsballs as Suburban Stormfuehrer nummer Ein!!! So funny . . .
-
• #107
dogsballs wouldn't even make it as a trainee sturmbannfuhrer.
Everyone knows he is closet tube-sock worrier.
-
• #108
i think you're a back-stabbing git. why not say something while you were there. instead of rubbishing on a forum, from the comfort of your computer. grow some balls and HTFU!! or stop complaining like a school-girl!
what i think Dogsballs is trying to say is its not good conducting a smear campaign, especially when the problem isn't fully resolved. And when especially on here where Brixton cycles has a good reputation.
Brixton cycles im sure would be more than happy to offer you an apology and a discount if you asked.
Shit like this happens all the time, no one's perfect.

Well, i think that what he said was wrong about what they said about this and that.... does it show that i haven't read this thread yet??
I'll go back to page one now and read it all...... yawn
btw, my wrestling is limited to a paddling pool, 30 litres of nutella and naked ozzies... you up for it big boy? ;)

I can understand that you're upset about the service or lack there off that you have received but in general (and don't take this personally) I get a bit sick of people complaining on this forum about bikeshops all the time.
It's Brixton this week it was Brick lane bikes last week (granted they are shit) and it will be Condor again next week. All this along side regulars like Evans and Cycle surgery....
Even mosquito got slated by 50x14 just because the guy in there looked at him wrong.
All these personal complaints are just very 'in the moment' and not really represent the greater reputation of the bike shop.

Yes, I see what your saying. But I suppose you don't have any reason to not be a cunt (other than being a nice person), whereas a shop has a reason to treat it's customers right and get good feedback. (in theory)
I'd keep my eyes on this forum if I ran a bike shop. I tried to tell that to BLB when I did the work for them. That was one of the things they employed me for. To involve myself in their online face and presence. It's naive to assume that people won't comment online, and you have to be ready to counter it. If not, then it's your own fault if you get bad business as a result of what someone says in a forum. No matter whether what is said in the forum is right or wrong.
I do this sort of online consulting for retail business for a living and believe me it's rife on all specialist forums (especially Camera and photography forums. Less prevelant in America, it's a very english thing.)

i have to say i agree with jos, i get good service in BLB, mosquito, Brixton and Condor, i don't know why.i have never had a problem.in fact i had some amazing service in Condor last week, i went in to buy new cycling shoes, and the older gentleman who served me eas very professional.tried various shoes didn't hit me with the most expensive and is a credit ti them, in fact i know i thanked him for his time and assistance.

I agree with that it would make sense to monitor this forum (and in fact when David K had moan about the company that I work for we were all over it like a rash) if you were a London bike shop, but on the other hand, how many bike fora are there? I only really post regularly to 2, but I am registered on another 10. And there's at least another 10 that relate to London cycling. And then theres Urban 75, Londonist (not really a forum but YKWIM) etc etc. Almost a full time job.

Bikes are shit. Just buy a fucking car and stop your fucking whinging.
BTW: Aussies don't do smarmy, we are far to arrogant for anything this subtle.

BLB is my LBS. They've let me use tools in their yard when they aren't busy. I bought them a few beers. That's an arrangement I appreciate. And their Phil cogs are cheaper than HJ inspite of the fact they have to pay rent.
I haven't seen any people posting that it is defamatory to rubbish their name.
Probably best I HTFU and buy my own tools -
• #123
FWIW, I have had only good experiences at BLB, and I think that I have posted that before.
Unfortunately for BLB, the familiarity of LFGSS with BLB has bred contempt.

it may be a bold statement, but maybe some people get the service they deserve
-

I agree with the broad tone of most responses to this thread. I haven't really had properly bad service in any London bike shop, even Evans. However, BC (which is my LBS and I am matey with the guys there since I've been going there a while) is definitely one of the best. They serve a really broad range of people and they help everyone, whether they're buying a kiddie seat or a De Rosa.
