  • ^^Just drill it out

I'd move the bar end shifters a la:

Talk to Howard/AndyP etc over on the cx thread about it - they're cx pros

  • Not around today, but if I could find you tomorrow that'd be awesome.
Edit: ah thanks, drilled out the last set but fucked my drill bit, might invest in a dremel. The tip on the shifters looks good will check it out.

  • Or hacksaw a groove into it and use a screwdriver

  • That's pretty much what I was going to do, I've had luck using a dremel and cutting wheel for that before.

  • What is that absolutely MONSTER ^^^^

  • A Halfords bike.

  • Advise needed.
Just discovered this on my rear rim:

My best/quick/cheapest option at the moment is either silver or black Archetypes rebuild on to the my Veloce hubs. It turnes out to be available locally, and is best price/strength ratio at the moment. So my mind is pretty made up about rims. I have to make up my mind by tonight what color.
My only reasoning for black is that polished silver are just to shiny.

    What do people think?

This is the bike in question:

  • Ano grey archetype?

  • I thought of them first, but they're not in stock at the moment. Silver or Black are my only quick options.
I don't mind to much either of options.

  • I never use the bolts that come with atac cleats. Just get some stainless steel ones. Last much longer.

    Thanks Rob.
I'll get mine a bit cheaper elsewhere, and grey isn't an option, sorry to repeat myself.

  • I think the silver will be too shiny. I'd go for the black rims

  • That's narrower than the Mavic rim it replaces. See the wheelbuilding thread for options.

  • Cxp 30

  • why not just do a straight Open Pro rim swap. Easy and cheap.

  • ^^I used to love Mavic until today. From now on I'll admire them from a distance.

^Apparently hubs I got require pretty high tension on non drive side, and Open Pros don't deal with that too well.

I had a conversation with a wheel builder and we discussed rims options.
Taking in factor that I'm 90 kg, using those specific hubs, for my budget, we ended up with two best options, Archetype or Kinlin XC 279. Archetypes are available today, so I can have my wheels build by Wednesday.

  • Kinda random but have an old 3 speed "roadster" bike I'm fixing up for the gf(very slow project in bits). It was/is a burgandy red and I'm planning to fit lots of silver bits.

Do any colours out of rattle cans come out better/worse than others?

  • Obvs red comes out faster.

  • Silver or Black are my only quick options.

I'd go for the silver, the black will look ratty after a week of brake use.

  • I'd go for the silver, the black will look ratty after a week of brake use.

Are you saying go brakeless on a road bike?

  • I think if you de logo the silver archetypes they'd be good, that's what I would choose .

  • Just put this together today (some parts from my Makino, some part came with the frame), but already happy with the build. Will try new stem/bar combo, new chain (fuck DID) and will change the headset for something more modern...

Logged in from the middle of nowhere, France, to say give this to me. Please.

  • Really want that Look too.
The only thing that annoys me are badly fitted tires.
