Also I just went for a quick spin on drops that are too wide and it still seems that the reach is manageable. Bearing in mind it will be track rather than tarck I think it will do nicely till one comes along in my size
Is the TT 61?!

Somas gone all hip hop, looks great man

A much better outcome for that frame imo.

Gaston, that fork looks incredible with that frame, beefs it up nicely. Perfection!

I'm trying to find a 26mm ahead stem so I can build it up. I just called up an LBS and asked and they said
"Oh, you mean 25.4"
"No, that will be too small, I need 26mm"
"It will be fine, they only come in 25.4mm and 31.8mm. Most bikes now take oversize anyway so that's probably what you need"Bye then.
Nitto shims solve the 25.4-26mm problem, you know.
LoL.

What a shame of that Soma.
Why? both look great. Winter vs summer builds.

do let me know though - i'm tired of having 58cm toptubes and having to run 140 stems

^^&^^^ I most definitely prefer the winter over the summer build. Let it rain! (Oh and what happened to that brake?)

A bit of Googling suggests it could take a 29.4mm seat post, as some Indy Fab 853 frames do.
Which is odd. Either way, I'd like to get the proper size seatpost as this shim setup isn't very secure.
They did? Never saw that. I know some older took 26.8. You sure you not looking at clamp size or somtin like that.

We're talking about frames with "Oversize" 1¼"/31.8mm OD seat tubes, not old fashioned 1⅛"/28.6mm. 29.4mm would indicate 0.7mm wall thickness, which is one of several possible sizes for a 1¼" 853 tube, others are 0.8mm, 0.9mm and 1.0mm, obviously the thicker walled tubes are aimed at bigger/heavier/rougher riders. Doesn't really help, as that allows any seatpost among 29.4, 29.2, 29.0 and 28.8 to be kind of valid, and that's ignoring that some seat tubes are swaged down to a smaller diameter at the top :-)

I c. They must not be used frequently on their road bikes.

Finished my MBK road bike today. Quite happy with the result, as it's my first ever complete build (except headset and bb). I was afraid I would fuck up the bar tape, since I had never tried that before, but it was surprisingly easy I think.
Ride is good, shifting is smooth, I just need to adjust the saddle a bit.

Keeping my self occupied, bars look gash and not permanent.
First time i wrapped cloth around levers, got it a bit wrong
Looks professionally done to me, but there are some pretty cool chrome effect paints. Spaz stix do a good one.
