  • internal routing question:

the brazeon is too narrow for a cable, I assume there must be some sort of ferrule for this?

    Any tips? It's a Daccordi

  • This one I just can't get enough of:...

For me just can't get enough of that :

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - II (Full Album) - YouTube

  • Something like this?

  • Something like this?

  • Yes - it is stepped. I don't know what the proper name for them is but I have a bag of them and can send you one if you can't get them. Quite commonly used with Campag and on Italian frames.

  • I have a (nice) dilemma: What do I do with this frameset?

A recent Serotta "current project" has made realise I want to build this back up into a working bike. I had stripped it of it's groupset for a CX project and had half heartedly tried to sell it on here (didn't really want to, so it's been boxed up and stored in the bedroom since). But enough time has passed for my wife to have forgotten that I'd said I was selling it to pay for the CX project so I reckon I can get away with building it up again :-)

Merlin have a great deal on Force 22 complete groups at the moment which I reckon would compliment the frameset nicely, but that would mean a freehub upgrade to any of the wheels I could use for this to 11 speed. The ones in the picture are from my 10 speed TT bike, so would then be difficult to swap wheels between the 2 bikes too.

Or I hunt down some second hand bargain Campag 10 speed components and use some Record/Open Pro wheels I have "spare".

    Opinions?... Thanks.

  • That is stunning.

silver thomson post, campag record (all black) with black saddle and bar-tape and a gold chain

  • ^^that listing ended half hour ago, yetidamo did you?

  • jesus crimeny :')

  • modern / light / black downtube cable stops for campag?

  • Nope wasn't me with the BIN. Listing had already finished when I got to it.

That's the sort of this I had in mind though.

11spd freehubs just need a spacer to run 10spd albeit you would need to swap cassette when swapping wheels.

Alternatively I don't know how rough an 11spd cassette would be in a 10spd drivechain, other than a cog not being accessible. Anyone with suitable parts fancy trying it?

    Sorry.

Similar stuff comes up a lot though. 2007 campag is old enough to be cheap. But not vintage yet ;)

  • Yes! I have 2004 10sp Record (square taper cranks & silver brakes) on the Look and it's a real joy to ride.

  • that look is lush

  • Thought I might have more luck with this question here - none in AQA

While on the subject of brakes, my front (bog standard caliper. Shimano exage I think) is "loose" on its spindle so that when you actuate it the whole thing moves forward slightly, giving a clunk and mimicking a loose headset when rocking the forks back and forth.

If you tighten it up though, the moving parts are too closely opposed to actually close and open. What bit do I need to grease? Or fettle? Or?

    nice!!!!!!!!!!!

Just buy a new Tektro, an old Exage isn't worth spending any time fixing. Even if you get it apart, you'll probably find the bore in the arm is worn so you can't adjust it to be both free-moving and free from backlash.

  • I'm glad your Serotta didn't sell 'damo. It's only right that you keep something so lovely...

  • Thanks Jake. Yeah I didn't go for a hard sell :-) Pleased I've still got it too. Excited about breathing new life into it.

  • ooooft. dat look

Mkay - I wasn't trying to be cheap, more that I could well have put it on wrong/tightened something too much or not enough. If there is a likely mechanical fault then obviously it can go in the bin!

  • fettle it till you really break it

  • ^^^^ Cougar is really nice, just needs the steerer cutting and maybe a plain black post? what rims are on it?

edit: sorry, on the wrong page!
