Mudguard question, whilst we're on topic; If my rear guard rubs when I put power through the NDS crank which side of the mudguard is rubbing?

Change of saddle (stripped down SLR's are truely painful!) and alternative wheel set
Needs better photos when I get time -

Don't like the Arione on there, maybe a concor, a flite ti, a turbo or a rolls?
wheels suit it nicely.

Today was a good day.
I love this bike and I love Yorkshire.
Can't beat God's Country! Nice bike too.

True true. The SLR looked the part but I've never ridden such a horrible saddle so i'll have to look at alternatives. Maybe an SLR un stripped might be better?

It's all about positioning with SLR, you sit on it differently to an Arione... play about with it you might be surprised... Otherwise I have a beater SLR you can try, still padded but also electrical taped at the front to keep it together...

Just stripped it down a bit. come into some money so plans for winter (hopefully) are:
- Light(ish) pair of V's (FG) suggestions??
- Carbon forks of some kind (whatever is on gumtree aha)
- 48t chainring + cranks
- Frame spray
- Seat + Post
I'm kind of inexperienced in the world of FG, so.. part suggestions?

Erm.. would waste time or money on Carbon forks or a repaint... you'll have probs with the cranks too as they are cottered...
Get a cheap pair of second hand wheels and some moustache bars? -

Get a track frame.
So many options in your size, don't waste money on that.

Saddle is spot on! Awesome build.

Contrary to your beliefs, conversions can be quite lovely for longer rides based on geometry...
contemplating giving cf frame a rest and swapping over the drive train back to this for the winter

I have just acquired, for the princely sum of £5 a complete 1959 Sheffield Langsett club racer in 531. From the original owner. Who is certain he also has the original receipt/build sheet from new, and for the repaint/couple of upgrades done at Shorter's in the 70's.
The old boy used to regularly ride to it Italy with his wife through the 60's making it as far as Sicily and Malta.Pumped up the tyres and rode it home. Shifts perfectly and stops silently having not been ridden in 30 years.
Specs:
51st 56tt Gorilla geo frame.
Ideale saddle
Maes bars
Mafac centre pulls
Campag hubs, mech and shifter. 5speed hub with track threading on opposite sid complete with lockring
Nice 3pin chainset
Blumels plastic 'guards in perfect nick
Nifty old rack.Plan is to service it, swap out the drops for porteurs to make up for long tt and have a wicked little commuter for Liz. Would like to get some Langsett decals, will need to contact lloyds or Langsett, who are still in business. Under 30yrs of dust there is no rust to speak of and perfect paint.
Apologies for iphone pics.
