  • hahahaha!

i've managed to bosh it together with bits in the shed... needs this saddle badly though, white charge spoon really aint cutting it.:

If anyone has a flite/ other suitible saddle for sale then give me a shout! old/torn/cheap is fine.

  • Does anyone know where I can buy rubber hoods for old school Shimano 600 brake levers? The ones pictured

These are a bit of a pain I'm afraid - Nobody makes repros, so your 3 options are

    • Look out on ebay/forum classifieds etc for hoods or a complete pair of levers
    • Use the best fit - in this case I think it's Dia Compe (e.g. here) - can't confirm which other ones will work as vintage Shimano's not my specialist subject
    • Use the damaged ones you have to make a mould and then cook your own - not sure how this is done, but there's a guy in the US that makes Campag record & Universal hoods as a cottage industry.
  • Will go for the Dia Compe as they are reasonably priced and it's the easiest option....

Any ideas on bar tape / decal / saddle colour for this?

    Saw these:

A bit steep knowing you can get actual levers and hoods for a couple of quid more:

  • Who doesn't?

1 bought way back in the day when he was just starting out. It got stolen, then recovered, but the insurance money paid for a 2nd, which I sold, along with the first.
Then I bought a second hand team CX (as above) for a ridiculously good price.
Then I missed the 1st one so I bought it back, and the third one I had been saving up for for the past year and a half or so.

Tl:dr: I like Geekhouses (and Cannondales), and probably spent a bit more than I would have liked, but have a perfect set of bikes out of it.

    So much jealousy

  • So I woke up early today and did some fettling with gears on the CX, basically finished now.

You never said you had a Mudville too!? Jesus. So envious of your stable...

  • Think I've just found my next project.
Great looking frame at a decent price...

    hang on a minute...

"If you prefer we can finish it up with correct period track parts! "

but doesn't have track dropouts, and that front fork is quite obviously drilled?

on the other hand, this would be awesome and only a little overpriced https://www.bricklanebikesshop.co.uk/products/girdler-track-frame if it didn't have a 24" front wheel. Something of the columbus max Brooklyn Machine Works about it.

  • Maybe someone will be able to help me here. I'm looking for a front brake that will allow me to fit a thicker tire.
No luck with the Shimano Sora I have, it rubs on a 23c tire. Cheers.

  • finished building this old raleigh, not sure what model it is but i know its 531 tubing.... pretty much a budget build but hey oh its my first build.

just need to update the chainring has its pretty cheap and nasty

just posting this really to see what you guys think

    dont be too nasty please!

  • external headset and alpina track fork. How?
Frame has On-One Smoothie Regular headset now.

  • Is the frame for external headsets?

  • Is the frame for external headsets?

yes, fork probably needs some kind of crown race, but I don't have any idea where to get it.

  • ^Did consider...but it's a Pinnacle malaysianz. Could always have it painted. Very good value, though.

Think small is a bit too small as well.

Well, TT is 54 which is good, but ST is 49... I would have soooo much seat post.

Just make sure you ride it before buying it. A long seatpost will move your arse further back, but it may end up in a very good position for leg efficiency, hard to know until you try.

Saw that frame in BLB a couple of months ago, have had a velo boner since. Looks killer in real life.

  • Headset comes with a crown race!

  • I remember getting that frame and thinking it was nice at the time, glad its gone to a good home.

alpina forks work with both headsets.

Even by BLB's standards that is retarded.

That online shop is a joke. £450 for a 531 Rourke frame in 46cm? LOLZZZZZ.

How did it end up at Vintage Bike Cave (who I've bought it from)? Did you sell it to them?

  • Pretty much done.

    I used to work there

  • Lovely looking bike. I'm working on my 1948 Claud Butler Sport Anglais.

    Not getting it anymore :-)

  • Just fitted a Kurve to my mash, first impressions are good after a quick spin round the block without padded shorts. seems to fit better than the SLR I had on before, may drop the nose very slightly.

  • Here's my new beater "deluxe"

(I had never heard of Mick Ford and could not find anything on google, so any info welcome!)

That look pretty awesome, what block are you running on the rear? 13-26?
