  • Just added the brake from my broken Rourkie as I've had a couple of scary incidents following both my girlfriend and my housemate, who both ride erratically. I still haven't used it though and will probably take it off again.

This is my finished 'proper' bike. I say 'proper' because my Brian Rourke is like a child's toy.

Wifey's Caprice in the background, as rebuilt and restored by moi.

Very very very nice, going to build a caprice for my girlfriend to(if i find one)

  • current project is a single speed town's bike for a friend. It's pretty battered up (but he insisted on sticking with this frame), so pretty much all new components - as much chrome as possible :)))

and a little teaser of the parts i've got for it at the moment, still awaiting for some chrome cranks and some Brasso polish.

  • cheers,

Seen the axelroserods. Any way to modify the current quick releases? New axels are over half the price I paid for the bike....

Plumbers clips to clamp cables closed. Put over fork end, insert wheel, tighten QR, bring clamp over both items and screw in thread till tight.

    They look like this:

    or this:

or even this (for fork paint protection):

  • also if you're going to fork out on axlerods why not just get the ones with the security allen key (5 sided so normal allens won't fit).

  • Just waiting for a head badge then a few coats of lacquer I think this may turn out quite nice.

  • that's lovely, nice job.

  • Things to go on this bike; FFWD carbon track wheels, FSA carbon track cranks, Easton carbon track bars, FSA carbon stem. Job done on super fast track bike.

  • Got the GF's bike ready for powdercoating tomorrow. last few days been spent polishing up rims, bars and stem having removed all the nobbly bits from the frame. Picked up some alu forks today (thanks Jos) and polished them up to a chrome finish. Saddle arrived this morning, bit greyer than looked in ebay pics but its a proper ladies saddle which I think is more important. At the moment I'm thinking RAL 5024..

and loads of black electrical tape :)

  • So I got my frame and front wheel back from the painter (Sam Fish), and its beautiful, really beautiful. Hes done an amazing job, and for a three colour fade it only cost as much as one colour at Argos.

So I've taken a really shit photo using my macbook's web cam, which doesn't do the fade or colours, or the filling of the cutouts any justice, but gives you some idea. I really do need a decent camera:

I just need a rear wheel and I'm good to go. Thinking of a white single sided phil, laced 3x to a white H+son with white or yellow spokes. :)

  • lovely, really lovely

  • please not yellow spokes, love the project otherwise. (get yellow spokes if you want them)

  • looking really good, yea agree with not adding yellow spokes, be to much

how much was the paint job if you don't mind me asking.. also, what front wheel is that?

  • why not do an all black rear?

  • would look fresh

  • FSA carbon isn't designed to run fixed, only SS. I know, I have one on the pub bike.

i swear they're on the Fuji track Pro when you buy it?! surely they can handle it

  • thats actually looks really good Harry, certainly the pink against the yellow goes well;)

what is your obsession with overly colourful builds

  • overly colourful = LOOK AT ME! ;)

    looks nice Mr.Major

  • what is your obsession with overly colourful builds

Don't like my bikes to be confused with any one elses :)

why not do an all black rear?

    Seriously?
    No way.
    Not ever.

how much was the paint job if you don't mind me asking.. also, what front wheel is that?

£120 for the frame and forks, £15 to have the cut outs filled. The wheel only cost me £25, but that not his official price for such a complex wheels. More like £60.

You are right. White spokes it is.

  • that looks sweet harry, nice one. too many of us opt for smart over fun around here. for the rear wheel i personally wouldn't go for all white. i think i'd put a white deep v on a white profile via some yellow spokes, with a pink tyre. fuck it, you may as well go all out! if the yellow spokes are the right shade then it's a must surely?

  • i don't see why yellow spokes are any more absurd than white.

  • Its not about the yellow being more absurd then white. Just a matter of what works (too my eye). I'm thinking of doing the entire rear-end in white. The yellow may not "work". May even go for silver in the end...

And thanks for the compliment Super.
Your tee is one of my favourites, everyone I meet (cyclists and non) digs it.

  • i think with fade bikes you should work with the fade, so the back end has to be white.imo
