Tyre experiment. Getting mildly paranoid about the puncturability I've heard about of my classic looking gum wall Challenge Forte tyres (200-odd happy miles so far, but that's not much) so thought I'd see how white walls look, cos I'm a tart. I've done 2,000+ miles in Michelin Pro3 Race on t'other bike with no holes, and heard that Pro4 is an improvement, so...

Skinny- nice work. That should have another years charge left in it, had the ZO gone mental?

Was 120 ish so a bit low. 5 min job and I had the cranks off cleaning so thought I might as well do it. I'd put a few hours on it since I got it from you.

how is it different from a bullit i dont see it?
It's made of steel. It's 5 kgs lighter. It's better looking. It's my size. It's made by hand. It can carry 200 kg where Bullitt suggests 110 kg is max. It's one of a kind. And at half the price.
It rides really well. I will do a project thread for you all. Explaining my ideas and compromises. I have had rather big load on it already and no issues so far.

yeah i like it. I meant how is the troublesome load bearing different from the bullit. I'm pretty sure people go way over 110kg more often than not

looking to buy a steel mudguard (Gilles Berthoud), but couldn't find yet a 27in (630) specific. Is there such a thing? If not, what's the closest match, 650b or 700c?

Would it work going brakeless and sporting the LOOK PS75/Mavic 646 clipless pedals without the fear of coming loose?

got the pinarello back from the builder!
i bought the frame thinking it was 1'1/8" but the seller was confused and it was a 1inch head tube, for track only with no matching fork. dent in the toptube and in need of respray. i run 3 speed fixed on my everyday road bike so this frame was going to be modded anyway - lets go whole hog!
new 44ID headtube kindly machined by field cycles in sheffield
internal brake and gear cable routing
brake bridge added into the rear
cable stop on LH seat stay for fixed hub
tidy up of crude dropouts
spray of carbon forknew paint job - i described as 'dark titanium grey' but it came out a pearly ti which was a surprise but entirely my fault for not being more specific!. graphics will follow next week in a milky white semi transparent and i've ordered a cobalt 11 seatpost to match the bike up
in the time it's taken to do all the work i've misplaced the sturmey indicator chain and the seatpost binder but that's no biggy - hopefully ride it next weekend

I really like that tilover, 3 speed fixed would be so good.

Wow.
Which frame builder did you use? Do you have any before photos? -

What are the fattest tyres people have got on CXP30s?
-
• #79424
I put a 700x40 on an MA2 once, but it was a foolish thing to do. If you want to enjoy the benefit of big tyres, get some big rims, otherwise heed Mavic's advice to go no bigger than 700x28
