Tidied up the Argos in preparation for my first TT. May get some odd looks on the start line...
You will get some love, when I was riding my Argos Columbus Air last season it got loads of attention at hq's
Folk love a real testers bike!

Apologies if I've missed the project thread, but is there a larger pic?

I wish. An old CX18 on record hub with 5 speed 13-17 block - proper TT wheel circa 1980...

That thing has crank overlap

• #79136
sorry - it depends what bike it is.
although I am really struggling with imagining a bike 105s would look good on.
but if decent means primarily performing well, then probably 105s.I don't think they look that bad?
Feel much nicer from what I can tell. -

Also, anyone got a spare crank bolt (the one for adjusting tension on the BB) for the crankset above?
-
• #79138
Yes, or at least I think so. I bought it but it wasn't the right size for me. It's Shimano FCM582. If it's the right one, PM me your address and I'll pop it in the post.

Is that the bigger one for mtb chainsets?
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/shimano-fc-6600-fc-6603-fc-5600-fc-5603-crank-arm-fixing-bolt-each-prod14200/ is the part I'm after. -

Bought this.
Unknown tubes, fits a 27.2 post. Columbus of some sort probably. Will build up as a pubber/missus bike.
I already feel it will get out of hand though, just like Chris's Viner. Need rec's of good cheap parts.
Need a cheap lo-flange hub in black for the front and inexpensive cranks.

This is the one I have: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/shimano-fc-m582-crank-arm-fixing-bolt-1f8-1110-each-prod18392/
No idea if it's a different size or not I'm afraid

That looks really nice. What about some old square taper road cranks? I feel that even lowly 80's shimano 105 (not to mention shimano 600) are nicer than many of the new cheap single speed sets. Not going for Italian would mean that you could use an inexpensive Shimano BB-UN..., which are supposedly really very durable.

Might have to go with something Italian cause of the bb that is on now which is an Athena 111mm.
I'm thinking Athena chainset perhaps cause of the beefier arms.

I have some well loved/used Record stradas with a record pista 48t ring that I'm thinking about shifting....
-
• #79145
Might be interested depending on how much love has been given.
-
• #79146
Enough love that the strap rub has left a minor groove... They are very shiny aside from that. Chainring is barely used, the cranks were well loved before I bought them...

Stage 3 (slack chain is because of play in the bb and not because of indolence)
Crono Special Pedals/Clips/Straps on Crono Special Pista 165's.
Closer.
Niiicce.
Where the hob goblins did you get the Pelton Shade?

^ quick auction that I happened to stumble upon, fitted the bill so I pounced!

Shimano BB-UN55 is available with Italian threads, as are most of the modern external BB systems, so being lumbered with silly threads doesn't mean you have to compromise on cranks.

Dat Argos!
Dat wheel base lenght!!
Dat bike!!
Amazing!
Sorry if I did not miss the build on here, but how many teeth on you chainring, and what is the block / cassette at the back?
you might want to rethink which bike's front end looks low:D
