Never tried fucking a Chris. Would you recommend a male or female?

Ha ha, thanks Fred!

I was going to get the chainring powder coated with the frame - is that likely to be more expensive than simply buying a black chainring?
= cannot phone Armortex until tomorrow.
Will that not peel and flake off when in contact with the chain?
Rattlecan alu-primer + blk?

I had hoped that it would wear off the teeth and leave the rest black- however flaking off would be bad.

Ed, your arms look quite long in this photo :-/
Are you even a proper T Rex?

^ I think it's actually a short back ;)
Nearly finished my first fixed build! Just need to get it put together
I know it's from a few pages back, but a TT-style brake would be better than a cross top on those bars.

I'd have thought powder coat would be the best option for not flaking as its quite plasticky and hard wearing. If there's an obvious ridge on the chainring I'd be tempted to get a sharp knife and cut a line around where the paint section will wear off. Then it shouldn't pull off further down.
Or you could mask.
Ultimately though if its for CX surely none of it matters that much anyway.

it wont flake off, its blasted prior to ensure good grip

Powder coat is thick enough to prevent correct chain engagement. If you want black chainrings which are going to look like crap due to the colour wearing off the teeth, anodise. If you want something that looks like it was supposed to be black with silver teeth, get something which has the teeth machined after the blank has been coloured, e.g. Thorn, Gebhardt, TA etc.

I tried that and couldn't find a 110bcd 44T anywhere, even for ready money.

I thought I had a great new set of wheels for my pub bike finally, but... turns out they are road respaced (they had on in the photos a 16t sprocket and what I would guess was a BB lockring) not fixed as listed, great.

Didn't want to miss out on another one and i'd had a couple of pints so it was very easy to get carried away.

where?

tell. me. now.
C24s .. Lighter, carbon with an alu brake track, rim. Best hubs of the three choices. Can be had for less money .. Other two choices you are paying premium for the branding. But that is the strength of branding.
Although with that sort of money I'd be also looking at hand built options.
