While I have your attention, I suggested a pal got Black Snake cables for his disc brake equipped MTB: there isn't enough outer for both the front and rear brake.
Bit miffed as I checked for disc brake specific kits but the BS states that it's suitable for "all brake systems". K.ble comes in road and MTB flavours but not (AFAIK) BS.
a) Have I missed something or do I have cause for complaint and b) can you buy BS outer by the length?

Nothing you can do apart from buying two kits. If you run full outers to disc calipers, you're using about 1m more cable than a normal rim brake set up. It would be pointless for Transfil to make their kits 50% more expensive for the 99% of users who don't need that much housing.

Agreed, it wouldn't make sense for Transfil to include the extra outer in all kits but they could make two as with K.ble.
At the very least "not for disc brakes" might be a better strapline than "compatible with all brake systems".
Mostly I'm pissed off because I convinced a "non-cyclist" that he should cough up £40-odd for cables rather than a tenner at Wilko, which doesn't reflect well on me.

It does depend on how your cables are routed, though. If you have stops rather than guides, you might well be able to do a disc-braked bike with just 1.7m of outer.

Took a punt on a not very well listed frame on eBay.
I am now the proud owner of this:
Paint and chrome are in very good condition.
This is an amazing looking frame that's just well, 'badass'...........

^YOU BASTARD! I was hoping it wouldn't sell but it went for the asking price. Collection only made it much less appealing :(
It is a fantastic frame, well jell, and look forward to the build! :p

Love the skiny tubes contrasted with the fat downtube, the dead straight forks, awesome colour scheme + chrome

What size is that? Looks huge, and lovely

I asked him nicely, and he popped it in the post!
Turns out he's a mate of Vernon's. Cannot wait to get this on the road.

Haha! Win, will have to remember to do that in future :p

Since yesterday I've:
- Fitted brown bartape to match the saddle.
- Swapped levers for more ergonomic sram ones.
- Sorted out the headset spacers.
- Fiddled with the mudguards so that they don't get in the way of the brake lever arms.
It's pretty much finished, but there are a couple of things I may do:
- change saddle angle a bit, more towards 0 deg
- match seatpost + stem, either with a black post or silver stem + spacers (opinions?)
- In the longer term, maybe change mudguards. A smooth set of honjos would be much lighter and don't rattle like the sks ones do, but far too pricey this early on and these mudguards look like they'll function pretty well for the time being

SKS shouldn't rattle, not in the slightest if you installed it correctly.
-
• #78689
Yeah it could be exacerbated by the previous owner not fitting these
and the close proximity of the steel stay to the plastic mudguard>rattling when cycling over bumps etc

Picked up this beast.
Whacked it together, complete with duct tape disc wheel :P just need cranks and brake fitted

Most bicycle shop have a huge range of spare SKS bits, just sweetly asked the mechanic if they have any of those left while batting your eyelasses, you might score a couple free bits.

Can you tell what it is yet?

Love that Benotto - looks like proper man size too.
Just been having a play with the Vernon:

^ One day, I too will have a shed from which lightly used period correct Campag groups will appear when appropriate.

Even I was surprised to find that one - God knows where I got it from!

Are you sure that is what's causing the rattle?
Regardless, cut the stays off flush with that flange: no snags, no rattle, cleaner look than those goofy things that SKS provides. -

Bottom bracket is abit fucked so going to have to use a 110mm threadless bb :-(
Cheers though :-)
Plumped for UN55 as the forum fave and didn't want to shell out for a separate tool for the Veloce: I'll give the Tif a whirl if you say it's up to par.
Thanks.
PS how do you think the Tifosi compares to Record/Chorus?
