Have you seen this Ed?
Am I right in assuming these bars are nitto b603aa? £45 seems a hell of a lot for a clown bike cockpit...

May have some old one lying around for you...

Saddle fore and aft is'nt a variable.
Knee directly over pedal at 3 o'clock, saddle directly under sit bones.
If you have short thighs, an in-line is often the best fit.
Is that the front of the knee cap over the pedal axle, or the center of the joint?
Daaaaaamn thats fine!
Would love a frame like that for summer project. -

Slave experiment. Might try with a shallow road handlebar.

Part of the reason I asked is cause the new Easton EC90 31.6mm post I got only a few weeks back has pinched the carbon even when tightened up to only 5nm (have a proper torque wrench), but Easton say in the blurb on their site that it's been designed especially NOT to do that.
Guess they forgot to mention it only works with backward facing seat clamps.
So if I replaced it I was wondering if getting a replacement post at 30.9mm diameter and using a 30.9mm-31.6mm shim might help distribute the clamping stresses?

Is that the one with the flat on the back (RAD - Relief Area Design)?
30.9 - 31.6 is quite a thin shim (0.35mm or 0.014"), it can be done with 15thou brass sheet from a model shop but you might as well go the whole hog and shim from 27.2, gives you more choice of both posts and shims.

Looking forward to seeing this finished chrisbmx116 ^^^
Great progress so far :)

Yep, that's the one. Not particularly happy, especially as I bought it on Ebay from the US, and I can't think of any way to prove I used a torque wrench, all proper like. It really is a dumbass idea to make a song and dance about how great it is, only for it to work on a fraction of the bikes out there, and not tell anyone!
I've found a couple of 30.9 to 31.6 seatpost shims for about £6, and as long as they're 10cm+ long, should work fine to bring any pinching force back to the RAD section of the post tube instead of the front(?). I kinda want as large a post possible as I am on the unfortunate side of 18stone, and (possibly quite wrongly) hope that a larger dia should take the stresses better.
Very interesting article by the way, now all I need is to get my hands on two sets of accurate bathroom scales...

did you put a smaller wheel in the front to reduce pedal overlap?
Put the final coat of clear coat on today... Turned out ok, not perfect, but defo ok.
Build in progress. That's so so nice.... plans for matching tyres?
-
• #71667
Firstly, really DFP? 5'8" + 51 ETT = T-rex
Secondly, a difference in height of 6", is probably going to mean at least 100mm difference in reach. No doable.
I can manage 52cm on a normal shaped bike, maybe 53 with very compact handlebars & hood setup.
But low pro, defo not bigger than 51.

No, just my old Gamma on Record wheels, actually PM'd robadob about those wheels but can't afford them sadly.

It's a shame no one makes decent 20mm (or 23mm for that matter) gumwall clinchers.
Veloflex are fucking expensive and last about a week, and panaracers don't come skinny enough. If Vittoria made gumwall Rubinos, I'd be all over them.

• #71672
Paselas come in 23mm.

I have lugano gumwalls and theyre pretty much all black due to wet riding, is this something that happens to all gumwalls? Or just cos theyre cheap ones?
-
• #71675
More so to expensive ones, at least the cheap rubber walled ones can be cleaned.
Nice!
