I'm assuming that's 10-speed, and therefore of minimal interest to readers of LFGSS
I've found that there's a lot more quality info about 10-speed than fixed/single on here.

Fixed gear bicycles are soooo 2008

I can't get enough of Rotor cranks. Definitely wanting a set for the fixed gear and a set for the fancy road bike.

I offered the seller 200 quid for it BIN 3 days before the auction ended - he told me that he was confident it would go for more because he had 100+ watchers. I said OK and got it for a steal at the end. Win

Is the fork drilled?
If so, surely a fork mounted cable hanger is the obvious solution?
Tektro make one. -

First ride on the Sirius yesterday, and the gf's Woodrup got it's maiden voyage. Woodrup just needs shorter stem and some sylvan touring pedals which I picked up yesterday. Lovely classy bike.
Sirius is lovely.

This is where I was leading him. Not only a better cable line, but it takes the steerer out of the load path; steerer flex is the primary cause of brake chatter with cantilever brakes.

Tektro make one.not a huge fan of the way they look. i understand that it would solve one issue..........but my eyes would not be happy. i would get sleepless nights.
i just want a nice stem with a hole in it. -

It would solve the two biggest issues with cantilever front brakes.

so far not had issues with chatter, but the cable line looks unhappy, like a very expensive chiropractor bill unhappy.......someone must make a classic looking stem with a cable routing hole?

People made them, in the olden days when MTBs had 1" steerers and cantilever brakes. All sorts of them, with holes and guides and rollers. You could travel back in time to 1985 and buy one, or you could get over your aesthetic worries and improve everything about your brakes the modern way. Or you could just drill that SR stem like cyclo-cross racers did to their Cinelli and 3ttt stems back in the day, but don't blame me if your stem snaps just because of your aesthetic hang-ups.

Time machine it is then(or retrobike, or ebay).........i am sure i can walk the line between function and fashion. like i said, i know its not a good idea to drill an alloy stem..........seems like it would be a bad idea to drill a steel one also, appreciate the advice.
This stem exists, it looks moden.....i just need to find one/who makes them(unless its custom).

Send a PM to TM.
He imported some cable holes from the US to use as brake holes on forks but then went brakeless.

Kind of thought as much, i like my teeth. A stem fail on a tandem would not be fun. Best to get a stem purpose made then, but I am finding it hard to track down something aesthetically pleasing.
