Sks raceblade. I've got them, they're great for clip ons. Feet still get a bit wet and bike gets dirty compared to with full mudguards like chromoplastics, but they're good on the whole.

Sumo, do your legs not get wet with the guard not covering the seattube?

Konga - How does it handle?
Can't imagine how that long a wheel base but steering from a mid frame position would relate, especially as you've still got a standard (?) head tube angle, must be pretty stable though, especially with any load on... duh, sorry, having a special moment.
Still really want to try one though.
Have you got any other projects planned?
Looking forward to seeing the completed 29'er.
Are you doing your bachelors or masters degrees (if thats even how its setup there?)? -

I've ridden a bullit cargo bike which is similar and the ride is very odd. Very slow steering that takes some getting used to. Good fun though.

I haven't actually ridden it in the wet enough to know yet. I'm used to riding aluminium frames with tubes so wide the water never got past anyway, so I will find out soon.

Just got my Faggin (note NOT a 'nag, those are just stickers) from the forum. I think it might be too big for me at 58, but I'll give it a try. Didn't realise until it arrived that it's got an Italian BB which is currently too short for Sugino 75s. Going to have to try a few different sizes as Sugino don't make Italian threaded. Someone suggested Tifosi 109mm? Anyone got something similar knocking about?
Also, best thing about it - it's almost exactly the same colourway as my road bike.

Indeed. I'm still unsure about the fit, but as the BB is so short, I can't even put cranks on to check. I'll stick it back on here if I find that it's uncomfortable, although admittedly I probably won't know until I can take it down to HH.
Also just trying to decide whether I should drill the forks or not...Also entering the murky world of whether or not it's ok to run S75s on non Sugino or Campy BBs. There seem to be an equal amount of arguments on both sides.

They will work fine on Tifosi/Token ISO bb.
Or are you considering none ISO taper?
Why not just get a Campag Veloce or Centaur?
-
• #68439
The Token ones are nicely made and only a few quid more than the FAG/Campag ones which need a special tool. Of course, it would also be fine to use a Shimano BB-UN55, so it comes down to whether the chainline is spot on with a 110mm ISO Token or a 107mm JIS Shimano.

I'm not usually one for being to precious over drillings and things like that but I'd say not in this case, that frame would make an awesome restoration job (however it nice it looks now) and it would be great to bring it back to original/authentic livery...

This is what people seem to be saying (the 110 ISO/107 JIS thing). Is there not a risk of fucking up the taper on the cranks using JIS or should I not worry about it?
I'll see what comes up first and go for it.Cheers

That's what I'm thinking as well, I might save it for track/looking at/annoying my wife alone. It's a shame that all of the clamp on brake mounts are so damn ugly.
I am half heartedly looking into getting a spare pair of road forks for it, but 220mm steerer length is pretty hard to come by for something affordable and decent.

I think there are a couple of folks on here that might know of clamp alternatives that are not ugly as sin... always good to have one bike to be precious about and one to thrash about... she'll understand.

That is a beaut, isn't it? I like the colourway of mine - I've always been a fan of it on my road bike, and this one just has more chrome!
I wonder if Faggin do decals...
Anyone want to swap a rear Record Strada hub for a Record Pista? Anyone? No? -
• #68446
Ha, good luck with that!
But yeah, it does actually look quite nice and all... refurb it after a year or so maybe... if you wanted to... slow burning project.

No rush really as it won't be going on the road anyway, can at least spend a few months gathering parts. That's clearly not going to happen though...
I'll keep checking the 'durace' 'capagnolo' ebay listings. -

just go for iso which is what the cranks were made for. when you will be willing to sell or replace bb of those, somebody or you will be tied down to the same incorrect taper which you chose initially - because switching to iso after running jis on iso tapers fucks it up completely.
what guards are they? look like what i need...
