  • Matt, got some airwings with condor lever in the cupboard if you're feeling impatient...

  • And a trispoke.

  • And some h+sons.

    #slave

  • silver lever? i need a silver lever

  • Is not for you, and is not silver.

  • Ah Tom! Legend! well i've ordered some airwings from CRC, should be here later this week but i havn't got a lever yet, could i borrow/buy off you please?

And yes, i am on the hunt for a tri-spoke... or spok.... oh the shame.

  • I have a campag aero lever in black but it's the left one.

also got a rear miche long drop brake in black.

  • Ah would be wanting right, also long drop be no good im afraid mate, the clearences on this thing are ridiculous!

  • Got a black rear rival caliper in the cupboard too... Will be in touch :)

  • out-partsbinned :(

  • OSR's Lo Pro of Doom, in collaboration with 6pt's "scraps" bin. Looking forward to this

  • From my parts bin I can offer:

    A bell
    spoke reflectors
    6 links of 1/8 chain
    mismatching chainring bolts
    some punctured inner tubes

    You want?

  • Finished it and took it round the isle of wight this weekend!

  • My parts cupboard is currently a hhsb without a frame, a decent spec road bike without a frame and a hack geared thing without a frame, right down to wheels and pedals. And then some assorted spares around the side. Can't justify more bikes :(

  • ^^ is that the drop down to Ventnor beach?

  • Shanklin.

  • The extra weight is trivial, it's only a short section at the head end which is 2.3mm instead of 2mm

According to DT website, (64 spokes, 264 mm):
    Alpine III 2.3/1.8/2.0 418g
    Competition 2.0/1.8/2.0 382g

Extra expense is also trivial, 6p each at Rose

So for an extra 36g and less than £4 for a pair of wheels, you can upgrade from Comps to Alpine III. On that basis, I can't see why anybody would use Comps.

    Excellent. Thanks for the info.

  • ^^ happy memories!! when we were kids our dad used to take us on an annual Mayday ride round the IOW
The Ventnor - Shanklin leg was a killer - IIRC there are zigzags up from the beach at Ventnor followed by a long drag up and monster descent back down again - I ran 48x18 fixed back in those days and was pretty much trackstanding coming off that beach!

  • Project Porteur Rack v1.0 is coming along nicely, now gotta work out whats the best support system using the 1/2" tube I've got for the job.

    Fun times!

  • Here she is;

with some bullhorns with no drop that should be fine i would of thought, a bit of a aggressive position, but fine over a short distance.

  • I used to ride pretty long distances on that frame. It was suprisingly comfortable:

    This looks awesome

  • Just about to start this project...1960 Viking Allrounder 54cm (sml)...I need guidance on wheels 17" (want single speed) and also a nice extended stem, bull bars not to mention BB, crank, chain...basically everything...I'm a newbie!

  • This looks awesome

Cheers mate, I'm really enjoying this project and am already envisioning v1.1. :P

It's the first fabrication project I'm done in years and forgot what fun it is, although not sure the neighbors feel the same!

I think I'm gonna cut out some of the plate so as to loose weight and to make loads of available bungee cord fixings.

This has really shown me how much I need to start kitting out the garage as a workshop though, so will start ordering bits for that too soon.

I've tried to document everything so other people can have a go to, and/or offer advice or abuse here in the Porteur Rack v1.0 thread.
