  • I reckon you'd be more suited to a 56 than a 59. I'm 6'2 and 58 is the best size for me. Although my steel frame is 61x57 because I like tall frames.

Will check out what size it is, think it's either a 55 or 56. They're £475 new, he wants £400 posted I believe.

Ok cheers mate I'll have a think and let u know

  • Maybe a bit smaller, like a 57cm, but depends on your legs and so on

For your height, depending on your inseam, but definitely recommend a 56cm.

  • everybody has different leg/torso/hands proportions, but im 5'10,5 and I am riding 56 too.

  • This may be helpful in your decision, the fact they both have a owners thread can only be a good thing

    Surly Steamroller owners thread

    On-one Pompino owners thread

Or a nice simple track bike may be all you need, tis' up to you.

  • Thanks everyone, very hel

  • Very helpful, damn iPhone lol

  • Hey Chris y u no post ur newly stealth Pompetamine in the Pomp thread?

It's fuckin' tumbleweedin' in there man!!

  • I thought they seemed familiar. I remember picking up a Harry Quinn from you, you had them on your yellow track Look.

  • Wow! I've had some flamings on here in the past but never has anyone said anything so nasty as this :(

Sorry, I just liked it so much before.

    Maybe some stickers will help.

  • The wheels look 700c to me. It also looks like massive fun.

Does something clever happen with flipping for the rear wheel? Can you run it SS with second brake hooked up?

Yeah, wheels are 700c. Halo Aerowarriors laced onto Hope Pro2 Evo hubs. Rear is the single speed/trials one with quick take up. I'm running a Velosolo bolt on cog at the moment but got plans to run single speed with a rear disc in the future and there's also the possibility of running a 6 speed setup using part of a 9 speed cassette, so pretty versatile.

Not a lot tbf mate, I've always ridden mtb's but been looking to get something a bit more road oriented for a while, even before my bike was stolen. I'm looking to build on a relatively small budget and heard both were reliable steel road/track style frames. What would the advantages be of each?
Cheers mate, sorry for the lack of knowledge :)

If you're coming from mountain bikes and looking to get something a bit more road friendly, you could do a lot worse than check out the Pompino or Pompetamine. I've had my Pompetamine for a year now and It's been one of the best bikes I've owned. The geo is really nice on the road and they're really versatile. I have a friend who does quite a bit of light off road on one with CX tyres. Also they're not made in the UK but they're a UK based company which I think is cool.

    Exactly why I didn't. :)

Sorry, I just liked it so much before.

Ha ha, If I'm honest, it was only when I posted the before and after pics in here that I realised how rad it looked before. Really was getting too ratty tho. I'm really diggin the batman black now but like you said, it needs some stickers and that bar tape. What can I say. I did a fail :)

  • Possibly daft question, but I don't trust my eyes... what colour would folks call this?
    Does it have any hue/tint?

Edit, wont embed for some reason, prob going mad, I think the subtle cast is from a warm white balance...

  • ...and buying a Brother is supporting a small UK company...

...who don't actually manufacture their product here...

  • What black magic did you use?
I used the normal embed button?

  • Silver but more champagne in the embedded picture

  • ...who don't actually manufacture their product here...

Companies like brother get on my tits, generic frames in 2-3 sizes for hipsters who dont realise you could get a custom for a similar price. They brought no originality to the table, not even in terms of graphics or somekind of exciting brand image.

Just people who want to say they have somekind of boutique bike company.

  • Most people don't want custom, but do want good advice and customer service and a simple modern purchasing system.

Who know's what they'll do in the future? They're quite a new/young company so I'm not sure why you'd knock them?

  • ^^ Please point me to where you can get a Custom for £349?

  • n.b I have no idea how much that frame actually cost, but it was custom made in China...

  • That's fucking sick.

  • Seb?

    Jammy

Don't have any experience with those guys, well not for buying a frame, but a custom made Columbus SL frame for 275 euro's doesn't seem a lot.
