yes but lining the valves/logos up is the most important thing on a bike......
-
• #6428
beside putting air in the tyres?
-
• #6429
Come on ed you have nothing better to do.
-
• #6430
Ed, that rear wheel looks wank. Tyre logo, valve and rim decal ALL out of sync fail
As Aaliyah once sang "If at first you don't succeed, pick your self up and try again..."
-
• #6431
ed, what lacing is that rear wheel? who built 'em?
Looks like standard 3X.

A har, i built 'em for Ed at t'Cavo today. Rear lacing is indeed just a standard 3x.
Hope you enjoy them Ed, they do look reet nice...much nicer than the cxp30s, as they don't have much of a braking surface. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get the pair for from Jos?
-
• #6433
how much do 'Cavo' charge for lacing? and for spokes? which spokes? ta.
-
• #6434
Ed, you better take the tyres off and re-align the logo's with the valves :)
Weird.
I ride a Bob Jackson, with Miche cranks, BB & Hubs. Wheels laced radial and 3 cross to medium v unmachined rims. I even run the same tyres... I've even just bought the same chain to fit!!! In the same frickin colour!!!
That's just spooky.

Build is £25 per wheel. Spokes are usually DT double butted, which are 60p each for silver, 85p for black. Although, we do often stock a selection of Halo's double butted black spokes, as they're only 50p each...quality seems ok, have built loads of wheels with these and no problems!
Oh, and i chuck in free rim tapes...preferably fabric ones (if i have them in stock) as they're much nicer than rubber or plastic ones. -

What are the problems with plastic rim tapes in your experience?

What are the problems with plastic rim tapes in your experience?
To be honest, they're more of a problem when using brakes; with a lot of heavy braking, it's possible for the plastic rim tape to start to slip round the wheel, pulling the tyre and tube with it. I stopped using them years ago, after once having my inner tube valve ripped off at the bottom of a big descent, where i'd been using the brakes lots.

Ah...
I've just fitted a pair to the only bike I own with any brakes!
:-P

Well, just check every now and then that the valves aren't at slight angles (a sign that the tube has moved round). If they were new when you fitted them then you should be ok, it's once they've been fitted more than once that they can stretch and be more prone to move.

Ok. I'll keep an eye on them.
Death Wheels FTW!

Update (Fuji Track 61cm)
Changed front wheel (Mavic ellipse, couldn't turn it down at £100, paint is wearing away on the brake surface though)
Cinelli Pista stem (adjustable stems are so crap, and this was the only stem I could find with any drop)
Black Gel tape (White bar tape lasted a mere 13 days and 350 miles before I took it off, money well spent :/ )
Lidl saddlepack (£6)
Changed bottle/cage (still can't justify spending £30 on a carbon one :( )And it's never been washed:
I only post this because I am looking for a new rear wheel and didn't want to make a new thread, need something strong and reasonably priced, any ideas? cheers.

so i just put this together... some bits are still not right but i couldn't wait.
its still tiny..and the fork reaches out a bit far, so i'm thinking about a 650 wheel, anyone wants to sell one?
1 650 fork and wheel is going to drop the BB height, so not only will your pedals hit the wheel all the time they will hit the floor all the time too.
That really is a stupid frame Miro.
How much did it cost you?
haha!
