  • You do realise that the biggest advantage you got with the gearing is that you'll get 24 skid patches?

Certainly do Ed! And although i mostly skid left foot forward, i sometimes skid the other way, giving a potential 48 skid patches. All this said though, i bet i'll still end up with just one big hole in a few weeks! Bloody typical.

  • you should try 47x19 = 38 skid patches

  • you should try 47x19 = 38 skid patches

19 skids thought, but 38 on both pedals.

  • I really like that build Phaser but I can't get my head around the gearing.

  • htfu 59/12 ftw

  • 12 skid patches, if you can try!

  • ill leave that to the experts

  • Those be toshi double straps.

does that mean there are some in cavendish

ahh fuck it, I'm going to be in London tomorrow, clearly.
    :)

  • I saw they have the Toshi single strap for £44, but I don't know about double strap, give them a bell?

  • @ phaser, nice bike man. what are the rims by the way?

  • Have been lurking for too long now, so time to lay myself open to the ridicule that I have come to expect on this thread. My titanium thing is due for a makeover - various parts on order including raw wheel ingredients for me to cook up on my friend's jig.

I bought the frame about 5 years ago, on the cheap from some bike shop oop north and it's been built up as a fixed wheel ever since. It's apparently a Raleigh TI frame, no idea how this bike shop got hold of them but it cost me 350. You'll all probably (rightfully) slag me off for the multitudinous braze-ons (cable guides etc.), to say nothing of the derailliuer hanger and unaligned tyre labels but I didn't fancy my chances with an angle grinder (and I took the lights and bell off too)...

    Current set up is:
ancient mavic g40 on no-name front hub
mavic open pro 32h on white industries eccentric rear hub - a 16t sprocket is fitted
    hsc3 carbon forks
deda zero stem - upside down(!) to gain some height as I foolishly chopped the steerer tube too short 5 years ago :-(
    3ttt bars of some description
manky front brake with mankier dirty pads in that graunch the wheel with a graunchy noise
    selle italia saddle
    no-name seatpin
random double chainset with one ring removed - a 44t ring is fitted.

sitting on my desk is an Andel crankset in silver - yay velorution @ £42. On order is a 44t TA ring, another open pro 32h rim, a Suzue Pro Max hub to go with it, Alpine db spokes for 3-cross and a KMC chain.

It felt so good buying parts again, after a long long period of abstinence

  • Well it certainly looks good.

  • New 'Project'

Oh, and its neither fixed nor singlespeed, sorry

  • nice, but how is that going to get you fitter or faster.

  • A few months away via C2W, but starting to think about upgrades from the stock components.... not familiar with Ritchey gear - any opinions on what i should swap out?

  • Lookin good gizzo!

  • @phaser, that is lovely man.

  • i'm frigging SICK of filling and sanding the scallops on my slo-pro! i want to get painting now!
Ha. I'm going to hacksaw it in half the second you finish building it.

wait until he gets sick of polishing all the metal bits, then puts it together.

  • fuck me sideways that is lovely giz

  • Yeah, nice ride Gizmond!

Midrange Ritchey gear is good quality relible stuff. So unless your trying to drop weight I would'nt change anything.

If you want to upgrade but keep the Ritchey theme, theses are 50% off at wiggle, and supposed to be pretty strong for a 1480g wheelset.
    £178 rear wheel.

  • for that type of money you could by open pro's laced to 105 or ultegra hubs. 10x stronger and same weight.

  • Misread the ad :(

£178 for rear wheel only. Damn fine wheels though.

That is beautiful Guy. I look forward to seeing it in the flesh.
