  • hmmmm, interesting.

the first road bike i ever owned was a bianchi, and that was definately italian BB,
    but the switch makes sense.

my point is, it ain't a bianchi.

  • ugh
edit out the dead dog picture.
    who wants to see that?

  • It's not real, it's marzipan

  • It was 10 times nicer before the conversion.

It will be for sale in about 2 weeks buy it and ask for the old bits.

    ye it's a bit grossing. I love dogs :(

  • not jealous at all Stuart, didn't know you'd flown out back home. nice pic you posted there...

Eight hours late (other side of pond and all that) but thanks Ved.

  • Not so much a project, just a neccesity.
Converted 1970s Miyata chrome moly lugged get around Perth without a car Bike.
Need to get a larger chain ring though.

word like like... you make sure the sand don't start getting in the cracks now....

  • Skoota - aren't those bars somas and meant to be run t'other way up? :)

    nope, they're trike bars.

  • That's why pedalless will be the next big trend. mark my words.

Hobby Horse will come back into fashion?

  • nope, they're trike bars.

    Similar though eh?

  • just a few changes to make now...

    Lovely bike, whats the frame?

Not convinced by the forks tho, colour wise.

  • @jammy, yeh jony and i were laughing at all the different positions you could put them in. I rode in to work this morning on it, i've never felt so conspicuous. CHEERS GABES!!!!! x

  • Love this frame Chris. Needs matching rims tho IMO i.e. 2 blue V's, then the fork wouldn't look too bad. Nice areo post too. Damn my sill sized seat tube! 25.6 FFS! cant get anything decent for it! :(

Stick some blue ourys on it and it would be mint...

you could always use a shim with the seat tube...?

  • Ourys suck! Champs FTW!

And a shim wont work as I'd need to make the tube bigger not smaller.
Most common post size is 27.2 or similar. Mine is way smaller :(

  • Ourys seemed to wear out quicker than the Champs (that and it´s less likely to slip!

You need to get a negative shim. I think Halfords do them.

  • I think the whole bike look fine, if it work effectively, then there's no problem (and doesn't look half bad too).

bad luck- High performance bicycles are made of thinner tubing, so the hole will be larger if the outside diameter is kept the same.
As a result, a larger seatpost size is often a sign of a higher quality bicycle. This has resulted in a de facto standard of 27.2mm for high quality bicycles that have 1 1/8 O.D. seat tubes. Since high quality seatposts are widely available in 27.2, most high end aluminum and carbon fiber road bicycles also use 27.2.
(from sheldon brown.) join us pug owners in the shitty seatpost club.

  • Thanks N3lson. It's an old frame so I'm not surprised.

    @PGM Neg shim my ass!

    @PGM Neg shim my ass!

It really is the only way to do it.

  • thanks for your comments fellas, i do agree about the matching wheels, im thinking of getting another built up for the front, only budget was stopping me! but if all goes to plan with a few frames that i have for sale ill be rolling in it! ha.
it rides really well, the first steel bike i have ridden for any amount of time, i like.
    cheers

  • There is no such thing as a negative shim.

It's an inverse shim you need.

  • I think i've just about got the Rustbucket the way i want it.... the recent shit weather was really starting to take it's toll on the bare frame, so i've lacquered it now, but i think i've still managed to keep the ratbike look. i'm still playing between various wheels i've got, but i think i like this set-up the most.

Looks good, but I think that you should treat it to a carbon front wheel...

A Corima 4 spoke or Mavic IO should do the trick...
