Well, I can do worse than you. Steel Colnago with a mis-match of modern parts stretching from Tiagra to Dura Ace. Including a triple up front.
Campy cranks on a shimano setup is worse (doesn't work on modern setups)

FTFY .. now sit back and wait for Tester to arrive and swallow the bait ;)

We're not counting all the pro teams who've run Colnagos with Shimano then? :)

Record front mech
Record cranks
SRAM Red rear mech
Ultegra block on 7800 hubBehold purists!
I hope it works

New Deda bar tape, new inner/outer brake cables, Fizik Pave gel saddle with titanium rails, 8 speed Mavic wheelset, Shimano 600 downtube shifters, Look Arc pedals. Will try to rig up gear cables, put a new chain on, clean the wheelset and put tyres on this week so it's good to go for the weekend!
Finished! (excuse the saddle angle)

Put a new carbon seatpost on my bike, therefore qualifying it for Current Projects. Totally loving it to bits in the ass, light stiff and comfy. The Campagnolo brakes are great, they really stop me until I'm not moving anymore.

The biggest issue I'm going to have is that I don't think it's happy with a compact chainset - I can't drop the front mech cage nearer than about 4mm from the large chainring, which I think is going to make the front shifting a bit dodgy. I'll find out tonight.
The 16t dufference of a 50/34 is the best you can hope for. So maybe a 52/36 pair and some HTFU (winky smilie). Would get you close enough I think.

Will that involve campag sized spacers on the cassette ? How much of an arse to convert ergos from 9 to 10 ?

Party time
(got that brooks saddle for a 5er)
I didn't realize i could use a road shoe and mtb shoe with the same pedal, so for now i just got some road shoes for my more 'serious' rides, then ill get something more 'casual' later on.
also fitted some drops and comfier pedals to the Dolan

A couple of weeks back Tester was giving advice about the best low budget, hard wearing chain. My girlfriend's franken-chain has now irrevocably seized and needs replacing. She needs a 10speed (Suntour group) and the priority would be for it to be cheap and as weatherproof as possible as she can't guarantee getting her bike under cover regularly (much to my angst). Suggestions appreciated.

That is going to be slippery as fuck when walking and wear the cleats out in no time. There is no tread around the shoe to protect the cleat from the floor. Road cleats have that rubber bit on them to protect them and make them last a bit longer when walking

It's probably mine.

Trying out these bars as I have another use for the drops I usually ride, and don't see these going back on the lopro any time soon.
They're fantastic! I don't know why I was so down on pursuit bars (on regular frames) before.Sorry not much of a current project but I am excite about these bars feeling so good.

Yeah... I'm a bit annoyed as I don't want to fit the chain and then find out it won't work properly, necessitating both a new chainset and possibly a new chain (I'm a bit unsure about lengthening a 10sp Ultegra chain once it's been shortened).
There's no 52/36 6601 chainset so I may have to bite the bullet and go 52/39. I'm usually cool with 34/23 on the steep stuff so 39/28 (yeah, it's a 12-28 cassette) might actually not be too bad. It's pretty rare that I use 34/28. In fact, just writing that ratio makes me disgusted with myself. HTFU it is.
Really didn't want to spend that money though.

Known as pillock levers in the trade.

Don't lengthen the chain once it's been shortened.

What about changing the rings on your existing chain set for aftermarket ones such as TA. Then you can make any combination you can purchase. You can probably E-Bay the existing rings as new to offset cost?

hello, im just starting to pull together a singlespeed bike. I got hold of an old raleigh (possibly eclat?? decals are faded) to use as the base, i have measured the dropout width to be 124mm. Can anyone recommend some cheap wheels which would fit. Can I put 120mm OLD wheels in?
Thanks

2mm either side is not going to create a huge problem for the stays

Cant you just get the chainrings and EBay off the ones you have?
I'm assuming 110 5 arm pcd here. But I'm no shimano expert.
See the BBB ones....

Me neither.
Are OTP Colnagos ever ridden?
