  • you da man

  • so far:

    Still need:

1" threaded forks, drilled for brakes (with at least 210mm of steerer)
    2 brake levers
    brake caliper
    Pedals
    saddle
a retainer with bearings for a headset
    grips

total spend so far: £24, to give you an idea of what I'm looking to spend !

  • My first fixie

  • Stripped all the gash silver rattle-can off of my Sid Mottram to reveal what's left of a rather appealing sort of duck-egg colour. Not enough to rescue it, and some other colours going on in there too. I've stripped some of it off, but I quite like what's left on the seat tube, so I might leave it (will be my rat bike for now)...

  • My first fixie

Your seatpost is the wrong way round and saddle too far back, non?

  • Hahah I'm famous................ love

maybe you could help for choosing a saddle for the Pinsello Collubus EL/OS
The Brooks Looked nice but it sems to me that is sheep, i hesitate
    please help me to choose...
This might be to consensual http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg19/scaled.php?server=19&filename=dscf4774g.jpg&res=medium
That's a bit freaky but was on the bike wen i fond it...
Not spachaly a french saddle, sure Corima and Ideal (2003) we have , but we are not realy good in saddles...

    Nice forum ; )

  • Nice forum ; )

    indeed

  • Gaston Fr your posts are confusing, please put just a little more time into formatting them so they are a little more readable. I don't mean the slightly dodgy frenglish either.

  • a Concor would be nice on the Pinsello

  • Sort of a mini project really. Changing the purpose/look of my "best" bike.

    Before:

It's a bit of a mix of SRAM and Shimano and was built with a bit of racing/just having a lovely bike for when the sun shines.

Decided that I want to ride it more this year and want to treat it to a Campag makeover and also a less racy, more "classic" look befitting such a beautiful steel frame.

Going for mainly Campag Chorus 11, but with a silver Athena crankset as it's more in keeping with the look I want (obviously ignore the bar tape):

I've long sold the deeper section Reynolds in the original photo, but not have some shallower ones which I'm going to desticker so they're both like the rear shown below. Also added a black Brooks Swift (as I really like the one I have on my touring bike) and will go with black bar tape:

Now, some advice please. I need some new (narrower) bars and took my preferred LBS have recommended some Bontrager Anatomic bars:

    http://bontrager.com/model/09167

I'm sure they make a lot of sense ergonomically BUT I really like the shape and feel of the bars I already use, also Bontrager bars incidentally, (as shown in the pics) and also I think they're more in keeping with the classic look I want for the bike. I asked them to suggest some bars with a shorter reach as I feel I could do with that using the Campag hoods and that's why they're suggesting the Anatomic ones.

Is it just me or would they spoil the bike? Am I being a dick? Anyone got any suggestions for "classic" shaped bar with short reach and mid to shallow drop? Thanks.

  • Can't help with the bars I'm afraid but would a nice set of gum wall tyres complement the classic look, and possibly even help to highlight those lovely gold panels?

  • My new bike.

Used to belong to eyebrows, been adjusting and tweaking it this week (until it snowed).

I'm pretty sure this is the nicest bike I've ever owned...

Not much of a project, all I've done is stick some pedals, a smaller chainring, a new seatpost and some handlebars on it, but I think this is a keeper. :D

Next things to do: clean the wheels, get a matching thomson stem? Upgrade to an actual arione as opposed to the P-X?

  • This, bought from Dumps by a small person, who couldn't reach the drops,

via some serious headscratching, de-bodging, re-bodging and general swearyness,

to a nearly finished mixte. 650b wheels to make it smaller, prettier, and more awkward all round. Waiting for a replacement mudguard stay, chain, crank bolts, and some gear cables.

Destined for the mean towpaths of Chiswick, and the railings of Hammersmith.

  • The washer that sits inside of the dropout on my rear hub sheared in half!? Is this just a standard thing i can pick up in Brixton cycles per say? Or are they hub specific?

  • I really like the Serotta.

  • I disagree with ever change made to it, but it's still a lovely bike.

  • +1 it was perfect as it was, but each to their own.

  • If we are talking about the serotta then I think the new group set will deff look better not sure about the rest especially the brooks

  • angle of picture or are those cranks nearly grounding? :O

  • My Pinarello now has gears and cables. Just waiting for the brakes and bar tape to arrive, hopefully tomorrow. Fuck yeah.

Let me know if you want to get rid of that Planet x saddle mate, so long as It's not too old. I could do with a new one!

  • Will do pal. I'm in the midst of selling stuff so I'll PM you next time i start a sale thread.

It's in pretty good shape, not too old by the looks of it. To be honest I'm finding it pretty hard to justify swapping it for an arione - it does the job and is super comfy. It's purely bling factor that would make me get a fizik.
