Many conditions might change before my inheritance arrives - if things go well, I could be taking my summer holidays in Crimea by then :-)
not sure **exactly **what you meant there, but if you're saying you can also deliver the frames to Ukraine yourself, what can i say, i'm all for it! i'll even buy you a free warm beers on some beach near Alushta

Just picked this up.
Hope that I can do it justice.Strong effort! What you got planned?

New forks courtesy of Pistoffski, cheers! Now just need a new stem, adjust bar and saddle angles, and pretty much done. Really happy with the new forks.
Anyone know what angle that stem is? I have no idea, trying to decide whether I need a 6* or a 0*... need a stem in either of those << about 80mm long and 26 clamp if anyone has something kicking about...

had this frame knocking around for a while and i'm starting work on it this weekend. not sure whether to powder coat as i'm doing it on a budget. completed a really expensive project last year so i'm going to try and do this one on the cheap. anyone ever used one of these frames?
it's got this nice feature on the back. if i can do this a different colour to the frame it might look rad.
and this is the stem which was a bitch to remove. going to use narrow straight bars in it. those break levers aren't going anywhere near it.

I'll tell you this; it's nothing special, so don't worry about it.

yeah it's going to be my knockabout bike, one that i don't mind leaving locked outside. currently use a specialized allez for that job but i prefer riding fixed these days.

geometry will be super relaxed compare to your allez, and go for fatter tyres as it look like it's designed for 27" rather than 700c.
try not to go too narrow on the handlebar, leave it long then chop it off a tiny bit.

The other thing is that I'll need to buy a crank extractor for the TA cranks, and I'm not sure how much they cost.

it is designed for 27", pretty sure of that. want the handlebars to be equivalent in size to standard drop bars that have been chopped. going to get it up and running before thinking about a powder coat. i've got a genesis frame on my other fixie and i much prefer the ride on that to the allez.

Those forks work a treat on there looks wise

Cheers, lucky find!

I'm going to risk a flaming and say I like the +ve angle stem. Maybe try a 0 but that drop looks manageable.

Yeah, was thinking +6, not sure what the stem on it is, but more than 6 I think.... definitely not going - angle would be pretty uncomfortable.... Thing is, plan is to put aerobars on to try out, and don't think they'd be comfortable with bars lower than that^
You can't really tell from the photo but the top tube is 61cm so it's pretty long.

That stems gotta be at least a 17degs I reckon.
Something like this angle?
Bikes looking good though dude.

Final finishing of my fillets on this (I've been slammed at work since then) http://vimeo.com/32380121
then off to Argos for painting next week...A friend's camera work/edit btw [click HD to view]
I think I hate you... seriously, can you feel the hate beams being directed at you right now? CAN YOU?!!! ;P
I watched that vid last week I think and was immensely jealous. You are one lucky son of a gun.
Just hope you don't screw it with the build up (cause then I would have to come murder you in your sleep and nick it, ninja stylie, just to save it). ¦D

Indeed looks just like that angle, cheers. Hmmm.... maybe a 10 would do it.
And yeah thanks, coming together nicely and a fast ride. Going to try to make it over to the track next week have a blast on the boards.

Tom, go to a bicycle shop, ask them if they have any stem lying around, and compare it to your low pro.
easier way to see how much rise you want.
-
• #54819
Yeah that would be the logical thing to do... (:
I do enjoy the trial and error though.

Cool, think its gonna be pretty sweet when all dialed in. It might be worth getting a cheaper angle adjustable stem if you're not too sure, until you work out what feels right.
I'm seriously contemplating a -10 deg on mine at the mo.
The 0 deg just isn't where I want it so I've been playing around with position calculations, which have seriously testing my high school trigonometry!
I think with a -10 deg stem, the carbon flat bar and bar ends, my bike would be approaching a more stretched out road bike body position angles, but without the drop of road bars, just the bar top and hoods.
If I'm right and the lengths and angles work from BB to tip of saddle to handle bars, which should be taking into account thigh length and proper back/neck angles for good power delivery and comfort (fingers crossed!), but tilted upwards by a few degrees, which is what I'm after, I'll be well happy. But as I'm already on my 3rd Thomson 4X stem, its getting bloody expensive! Luckily the stem has only been fitted for test runs and isn't marked, so should be able to exchange this one.

the lengths we go to huh! Hope you get it sorted, maybe test it out over a couple of longer rides to see how your arms/wrists/back fair before getting too stretched out.

One of my last test runs was a good 50 something miles into central London and back, and just didn't quite feel right.
Played around with saddle height and set back while testing, but just needs a bit more.
Its gone from a 50mm to a 70mm to a 100mm and now thinking a 100mm -10 deg, bar ends (for option of extra reach and leverage on hills, but so did not see them coming!), and cutting a lil off the bars will get it perfect.Meh, as you said, its fun!
Plus there's one happy member here who got a 2 week old 50mm Thomson at a good price, so it ain't all bad! ;)
I swear, my project is nothing like how I originally envisioned it! :P

But as the man said, that would probably be the sensible thing to do!

Out of interest Malaysian, whats the seat tube angle on that fort?
Trying to learn more about frame geometries.(edit)Don't worry, used da iterweb and looked it up! ;)
(re-edit)Nope, I was wrong, ain't got a clue, they must have changed their geo since yours was built!

I do enjoy the trial and error though.
Not when you have to spend more money, hence the suggestion of a bicycle shop.
That's a lot of spacers ...
