  • My size! (well, in cm.) Sell it to me.

    I am 5'6 btw.

Sssssssh! i was in line first (albeit in a far more subtle/unspoken kind of way...)

What Frame is that anyway DFL? as i may have to try and seek one out for the next project, as it is fucking beautiful!

  • Totally agree

  • This is my next project 753 tubing quite rare beleive.

  • Woah, and I thought ***my ***raleigh was on the large side!

  • makes the wheels looks like 26inchers.... it's that big

  • Yep, that actually work!
Cheers for the tips too - sounds perfect. As I said, the idea is to clean it up and maintain it without doing a full-on museum piece.

T-Cut on the paintwork before you wax as well. Gets all the dead paint off.

  • Bike on the road but not finished

It's an old "Alan" frame from Italy.

Need to sort some SPD's out and a plain seatpost. Also running a very spinny 42/17 cause it's all we had in the shop. And would help if the frame wasn't slightly compressed, hopefully it won't fall apart on me

  • That is bloody nice.

  • that fwame is gowwgeous

  • that fwame is gowwgeous

I do feel a bit like a girl riding it

  • I do feel a bit like a girl riding it

    change back into mens clothes?

great bike, flash doesnt have to be girly

  • girl?? what the fuck? you'd feel exactly like one if the frame is a step'-thru one!

  • change your rear knog frog to a proper one like the Gekko or the Toad, people can barely see your rear light, it's that weak.

keep the front thought, it's bright enough.

  • I recognise that frame!
    Buy it on ebay?

  • that brooklyn is wicked!!!

    Buy it on ebay?

    where else

  • Off me, I think ;)

  • Off me, I think ;)
    why thank you

  • Any time

  • my motobecane project hit a snag yesterday, the 10 speed had been converted ss and fixie.
was riding the fixed and completely buckled the chainring on a simple skid.
i have beaten the chainring back into shape and it seems to work (only ss), need to invest in a fixie crankset i think maybe old chainring wasnt up to it.
    any ideas? student budget though...

  • sugino messengers seem to be popular.

  • Considerring the price a good chainring costs, you might as well buy a new chainset.

Sugino Messenger is a good entry level chainset at about £70 odd.

Edit- Just checked Tokyo Fixed Gear (where I bought mine from in Nov) and the price has jumped about £30!

Might as well get the Miche set:
    http://www.totalcycling.com/index.php/product/parts_accessories/cranksets_track/FC_MICHE_144.html

    or Sugino RD:
    http://www.velosolo.co.uk/shopcrank.html

  • thanks, some nice bits on the velosolo site...
also i tried my crank extraction tool earlier (before the chainring reforming) and i just sheared the thread on both sides! the BB and crank arms are all probably the same age as the bike which was made 1977. so was thinking it could be a little seized, might need different tools?

it has a square ended BB, which is very sturdy and could be a problem to replace would any new crankset go straight on. i want a 48T not to sure how important crank arm length is though?...

  • I would replace the BB. No point putting a new chainset on a 30 year old bottom bracket.
The Sugino 103mm BB gives perfect chainline for the Sugino Messenger/RD cranks.

  • get Surgino crankset and BB for £65 in Condor then.
