Hi there. Not sure where to post this but this thread sounds about right. I have bought recently this lovely bike on this forum, but I am trying to get the fork that has been drilled to accept a 23s tyre on the front. At the moment it is a 20s, and I would like to be able to ride it this winter without being afrait to blow out to often the front tyre. Would like to commute with it as well. So I would like to fit a Re-Fuse on front but it is too tight.
This is with the 20s on
IMG_7695 by pardon-my-french, on FlickrThis with the 23s Maxxis Refuse on. Wheel from beater, not very true, but even when removing the brake, it is very tight, and rubbing because of the untrueness of the wheel (if I can fit a 23s I will buy a proper good wheel),
IMG_7704 by pardon-my-french, on FlickrOkay so my question would be. Is there anyway to fit a 23s on the fork, or is it hopeless and I should chase for another fork ? Is there any workaround to make the brake fit the tyre and not rubbing it? I am thinking a special sort of caliper ? More pictures here on my Flickr if needed as well as another caliper that I unsucessfully tried to fit.
I think that if I have to, I will fit another fork for the winter and the commute, where I'll put another brake and even another bar, and save the thin tyre/brake/drop bars for the day I want to impress the girls/forumengers. Though I will be very happy to know if something can be done to fit a 23s puncture resistant tyre in this stunning fork. Thanks for any information/advice that you could have.

Has nothing to do with the old Italian FIR
(except offering wheels and the 3 letter name).

Woutchi.. A common grasstrack trick was to use a ball bearing between dropout and axle to create more dlearance.. Don't know if that will work with quickrelease though.. Should if the axle's long enough..

It would appear the Maxxis Refuses to budge.

I guessed that, presumably they just bought the name (and maybe some other IP) in the liquidation sale.

Some guys at the LBS fooling around with a fuji track to do make it barspinable: How to barspin a Fuji on Vimeo
could be a solution to your problem... (same thing as Rodolfo pointed out) -

1970 Olympic refurb'd
not sure what's best to build this with. Campagnolo seems unnecessary since i think the Olympic was/is their basic model. So far i have the Tange/Mercian headset and mafac brakes
was planing early shimano 600 because when i checked the date code in the shop i thought it said 78 but it's 70
rear dropout width measured inside is 127/8mm and it's built for 27s. Not sure whether it would have been 5 or 6spd in 1970any suggestions for period stuff appreciated

Hi, New today and looking for some advice on a first fixie. I have the chance of buying a Charge plug racer, Fuji Feather, or a Mongoose Maurice, all second hand and at an affordable price.
Just wondering if any of you might be able to assist in making my decision or recommend something suitable. Thanks. -

Test ride them.
Then buy the Fuji.

Thanks guys, had a feeling that might be the general opinion. Is there anything I need to be careful of when checking it over before I part with my hard earned?
