coolbeanz, Bontrager does a 26,0 compact too.. I'm in the Netherlands, but what I've gathered from the forum, people in the UK also order them from their LBS and pick 'm up,like I did.. Bontrager has a helpful dealerlocater on their site, call the closest dealer, order the Bontrager SSR VR-C 26.0 in your width, pick 'm up.. Cheap too, 25 euro's.. I have'nt ridden 'm, but them look comfy..

Any idea where I can get those Soma Hwy One Road Bars in 26.0??? Can't find them on SJS.
Any other recommendations for 26.0 compact bars? Ideally silver in 40cm width.
If they're not on the site, call them up - they will either have them or can get them in for you. I got a set of silver 26.0 ones from them just the other week.

Good plan, ive had a few frames I've had repainted or powdercoated which look awesome but there is something about the original paintwork no matter how beaten up that makes them a bit special, might be the grog talking tho! Plus original and beaten up = theft proof (I've got a drilled 700c fork if you need one)
Well... I have repainted it but badly, deliberately, rattle canned, in the hopes it will look old quick and therefor theft proof.
Cheers for the offer of the forks, I think I'm just going to drill mine, I have some spare drilled ones but I think I'm just going to stop being so precious over a set of old steel track forks and pop a hole though them... Going to put up some before after and during pics very soon I hope! -

Have had it for ages now, slowly got it apart, slowly getting it back together. Still trying to raise the dough for a respray, fork also needs tidying at the bridge, paint has peeled off.

Finally, finally found a nice 52/53cm road frame for the wife's single speed build. It's a young's of Lewisham 531 double butted but sadly she don't like blue so it's off to Mario we go......
Damn! That is lovely, and what I've been looking for for the lady friend also!
Perfect paintjob! And sounds like good tubing, tell me you paid a lot of money for it to appease my jealousy :pI encouraged my gf to buy this for £100

I was informed that 501 tubing isn't the best in terms of weight, but in the real this frame looks lovely, well constructed and paintjob is great.
It's 54cm seat tube though so it may be just too big for her unfortunately :( we'll see when it's built up a little more -

Had this on a back burner for about 18 months. It's basically finished now, just need cages, already have black leather straps. It's built up with the intention of doing centuries. I try to do 1 a month and want something I really love to do them on.
Now I know I know I KNOW about the brakes, but this bike is for fun, cycling for the sake of cycling so shity brakes are acceptable. I also agree that shamals would maybe be better (especially the black ones) however I wanted wheels I could easily rebuild and relace depending on my mood (and weight!) and the Halos have proven to be good.
sorry about shit phone pics...
