Sweet! Love the forks as well... Maybe some paselas and then would be perfect?
what happened to the head badge?
Paselas would be a nice touch for sure, definitely be better off with some skin walls. Took the badge off, was going to respray but built it instead... need to re-attach it but need to order some micro rivets first!

• #50928
Yeah it doesn't need a respray, what do they say, it's got a nice patina!

oz.... when you say forks steerer on that monstrosity is regular, you mean 1 or 1 1/8? I've a pair of 1 1/8th rigid gt forks, or some usable but cheap suspension forks also 1 1/8, both threaded. i can post you either if they'd suit...
-
• #50931
I mean 1" threaded. Don't really want to spend anything on this so forks will come off a skip bike or something like that. I already have a chain for it (cheapo 8spd) I need a saddle.
Atm I can use it with the original wheels and the coaster brake

was just gonna post you them, spirit of the forum and all that, they've been gathering dust for a few years in my garage... shame they're no good to you.

Wow
Here's what I've just finished putting together as a stop gap
Wow, nice house. Who parked a bike in front of it?

Oz. you rock.

J Rok
Try H Lloyd cycles, may have the tiny brass rivets you need. -
• #50936
Thanks Malaysian, 1 1/8th wouldn't fit in the headtube.
Want a go Nuknow?

Having been used to a well set-up cantis, the modulation of the mini v felt quite on/off (i.e. slight pull - lots of power already), not necessary a bad thing, but take quite a while to get used to when the cantis modulated beautifully.
netherless I'm hooked by it's power, perhaps the TRP CX9 were pretty stiff in comparison to the Tektro? if you described them to modulated nicely, then it sound like the Tektro flex a tad.
I don't think flex is the same as modulation. The travel is lower than a canti so yes the pad is closer to the rim and has less movement between off and on but unless you are ham fisted then I don't see it as anything but a quick ride to get used to.
I have actually just gone back to canti's solely because of the distance the pads can be from the rim now that summer is over and the rims are getting covered in mud.

Stuck some 700 x 35 on the tourer I'm building up for next year (got the tyres free, obviously) to see if it'd work as a winter bike. I think I might have to go a tiny bit smaller though, check this clearance (awesome, yes, but no room for a mudguard, thus negating the winter bike/tourer bit).

Looks badass though

Yeah, don't I know it (thanks!)
Anyone got some cheap 26" wheels with XT/LX hubs?
I got the frame for so little I'm debating spending the money on a Phil/Royce wheelset. I've got 6 months until first tour opportunity... would like to try some 26" with phat tyres in it this winter though. -

About to get some straight blade forks for my road bike and I need to decide on the rake. 40mm or 45mm?
When dealing with mm's I'm sure the difference is almost negligible (?) but I need
constantsome reassurance. The original forks are, by my measurements, 40mm. Any reason to go for one or the other? Anyone care to make my decisions for me? -

Ah ha... good point. Longish drop calipers though?
Might just have to settle for some 28s on it. Not sure even that would leave enough clearance for mudguards... -
• #50945
can you get long drop canti's?
you can always use raceblades! -
• #50946
The cantis are out if you're changing rim sizes. With clearances like that, you could probably use 650b rims with 750mm calipers if fat tyres were the aim, but the bosses might get in the way. Wouldn't be something you could do cheaply.

First, new pictures with the new stem.
I'm trying myself on a new diciplin. Setup still needs a bit of work.

What, hour record?

Not record. Just 1 hour TT and 4000m. I have a personal goal to reach 40 km/hr avg. Came close this spring with 37 km/hr with road bars and basic gear on slightly hilly roads. I'm saving up for clothing and a heart rate monitor next. Have been working on my treshold power for at bit now so we'll see
