I'd go for the Sram Centaur one.

It's a dummy lever, so you can use the hoods like you might on a road bike
-
• #49931
You can also do that with the lever still in place.
-
• #49932
Yes but then it rattles as theres no tension holding it in place.
-
• #49933
Yes, but they can rattle. With those styles ones I think you only need to tape down the bit the cable goes through though.
-
• #49934
Or run the front brake through the two levers instead.
perfect if you're says, signalling, or adjusting the front light, putting on jacket etc.

If they rattle you've got the wrong ones, you need ones with a return spring. I've had several bikes with a two levers / one brake setup, they never rattle. I don't think exposing your fingers to the sharp internals is such a good idea, and besides it looks awful and probably feels that way too.

just "fixed" my singlespeed

I quite like the idea of doing this but can you explain how it's done?

Could wedge something in there. Chewing gum?

Cannondale Killer V500, . Fork has to be refilled or summit', not to much shock in it left..
Are you wedded to keeping the crappy old Rock Shox fork? I've got a Marzocchi MXC in good nick which will probably cost less than getting the Rock Shox back into usable condition, and it's a better fork. You can then punt out your knackered Rock Shox to somebody who's doing an obsessive period correct restoration and you'll be quids in.

I just installed two levers, but only one has a cable to the front brake. There are these if you want to hook up two levers to one caliper, but I've never been able to justify spending that kind of money on them.

My solution to rattling SRAM lever:
https://www.lfgss.com/post2355674-49714.htmlIn the long term, I'd like to do something more elegant by putting a length of wire between the lever (in the normal cable barrel) and the lever body cable stop, but it's going to need some custom parts to allow tensioning. A short length of spoke threaded at both ends and a couple of nipples nearly works, so imagine something like that but with thinner wire and cylindrical nipples with just a screwdriver slot rather than square flats.
Shimano SLR levers (anything post about 1985) have return springs in the lever, so if they are in place and working the levers shouldn't rattle except over really severe bumps which are rattling everything else too.

Old Shimano 105 sti's rattle all the time as did a certain era of Dura Ace sti's.

STIs rattle because all the weight of the shift mechanism hangs off the lever pivot. Pure brake levers don't rattle.

Ok, might need an explanation.. I bought a DA 7402 brakeleverset for very cheap (12,50 euro's posted.. :D), only to find out it was a "set" with two left levers..:( I took one of the two, and a right 105 lever for the GW.. Butchered the 105 lever: sawed the lever of, drilled the security of the lever of, and remained with what I remained with.. Quite neat me thinks.. But purists will probably burn my guts for it.. Anyway, I wanted drops, and I wanted the comfort of the brake lever hoods position.. Have been riding that 90% of riding time since.. I have to say, frame looks nicer on the photo then in real life.. Quite chipped and used IRL, but for me that's good because that won't inhibit me from riding the hell out of it.. And decreases theft risk.. Only things I'm not 100% satisfied with are the forks, which are quite nice but not that tight (would prefer a straight chrome one with less rake), and the saddle.. Also, I've been daydreaming about a black seatpin,, But that would kill the "full"ish DA build..
@fearthefixed, ZEN's are porn by definition, but can'taffordjustify one.. Liked a black one for the build.. And a big one.. I like big rings.. This one's a 54..
@scorch: I too am not a big a fan of the rims.. If I would've had the choice then would be either silver or grey box section.. But hey, these wheels are a cheap leftover of my earlier CAAD5 sale, so no bitchin' here.. Plus, I think the black suits the purple build..
@everybody on the rattling lever: it was kinda more necessaty then choice.. But on the other hand, it's lighter (;)).. Just hadn't a right DA 7402 lever to hand..
@tester, thanks, not so attached to the OG fork, but I'm in Holland.. So postage probably wouldn't make it our while.. Or you would really wanna get rid of it?! ;) What's the deal with getting the OG RockShox back into "usable condition" because, as said, I'm clueless as to fix that.. Any expert opinions on the 'dale? Is it good? Mediocre? Of course by today's standards rim brakes are surpassed by disc, but I'm a novice on dirt tracks..
@ everybody again, I'm surprised nobody has commented on the 753, because I'm personally that impressed by my find.. It's baby blue (ish) FFS! ;) -

Poor wording on my part there. The frames are lovely but there's always something in the bike that fucks it up a bit. like the upsidedown ahead on the mtb. Every bike on the website has one annoying thing that ruins it for me.
that was a concept and pretty well accepted as completely unrideable.

It's 54/19 aka 2,8421 aka whatever gearinches Britons make of it.. It's ok, I have thighs.. And am used to 53/19 and 48/17.. Only a bitty bit "heavier" (direct Dutch translation, dunno correct term)..

^^That's a grey square.. I've looked it up, but it means "a symbol for a future without art".. Don't get that..
great bike, **my **choice of parts =)) except i'd go for silver rims maybe
