One bike to rule em all.
I needed to decrease the amount of bikes from 4 to 1, but wanted a rad fixie for summer and a monstercross for the Finnish winters.
Need to change the cranks though, 165mm are too short for my taste.

I got this bike for stupid money the other day and trying to decide what to do with it. Already got a road bike and ss commuter, do I need/want a cyclocross bike or tourer? This has braze ons for cantis and is drilled for calipers. As well as mounts for paniers.
531 frame and hearts in lugs possibly mean it's something very lovely underneath the current paintjob and make me want to actually use it, rather than sell it on. I got it for the dura ace chainset it came with tbh.
So what do I do? Get it a lovely respray and do it justice or keep it as an (admittedly lovely on the inside) beater?
Tourer/cross? Geared/ss commuter? (too big for fixed with my stumpy legs).

[IMG]http://db.tt/eRSVuRE[IMG]Well, my next project is a fixed cx beater, fancy giving this fixed offroad malarkey a blast... that frame looks rip for something similar.

useless at resizing photos, but here is project £150 road bike.
https://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=786&pictureid=11442
Bought for £150 off ebay, replaced tyres, tape, bars, saddle and post with items from parts bin and pinched from elsewhere. Have to say, wolber rims are absolute cnuts. pinched 5 punctures and broke 4 levers trying to get tyres on... not looking forward to fitting the gators I have coming.
But yeah, apart from teh rear wheel needing truing a little it's great, really nice ride, very quick.
and before you comment on saddle or bar angles, they are comfortable for me so ffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.....

It's probably going to snow again, so build it up for winter, then if you're not going to do any touring, strip and sell in the spring.

your saddle is quite far forward with having a layback

I love how it's not just me using winter as an excuse to build another bike in august :)

Thanks everyone for the comments. I've got enough mudguards knocking about that I could put together something weather proof for very little so might go for this. Bad weather commutet possibly becoming a tourer next year.
Which reminds me, gotta plan a new ride to work this week. Moving schools so my commute becomes Forest Hill - Marylebone (rather than kensington). Off topic I know, but is there anywhere I should defiinitely avoid between vauxhall bridge and regents pal at 8am/4pm?
Ie, help me avoid hp corner, please. -

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/schwalbe-ice-spiker-pro-performance-folding-mtb-tyre/That's a lot of dough; back in the late 80s early 90s we used to make our own using sheet metal screws and old knobby tires. Worked a charm, as long as we were on ice and snow, not so good on the odd patch of pavement (road). We modified our approach a little and put the screws just along the edge of the tire so that it would catch only when the tire angle would become extreme. I don't commute in winter these days, just the odd fun ride on the river (it freezes over around here).

That's a lot of dough;
Platinum discount + 10% extra on tyres today, so not as bad as it looks, but still the most expensive tyres I've ever bought for a bicycle. I just took the view that I'd always wonder how good the Pro version was if I bought the cheap ones.
