the day you're bombing down a big hill and come unclipped is the day you appreciate having a brake, saved me from a couple of very close calls. I can honestly say, without my brake I would be either dead or have had some serious breakages...
why the hell are you unclipping? thats like saying "the day your pants fall down" as though it's a reason to wear suspenders.

maneouvering in between traffic, throwing my weight around and just popped out.
why are you arguing with every post today?
from what I hear, this is more of a problem with egg beaters as well.

cleats worn away / pothole gives you a judder / you jolt for some reason
etc.
it can happen, and malaysians right, a brake can save serious injury -

Thanks, yeah thats my issue, i love the shape of the bars, but im not sure what lever they lend themselves well too.
Im getting the hang of riding without a traditional brake, though its a little un nerving at first.
A bar end lever would look good and some brown bar tape would definitely finish it off nicely. P.s. What stem is that?
-
• #48508
What stem is that?
Cinelli Grammo Ahead
-
• #48509
Yes, correct on the stem.
Any suggestions on specific lever? I guess i could go to brick lane bikes or evans etc (i work near liverpool street) and try a couple of options for shape with my bars.

something like this but silver http://activesport.co.uk/shop/article_BLDC188/Dia-Compe-188-Reverse-Pull-levers..html?pse=coa

Most people use drop bar levers on those bars, Ed will show examples.

+1 for drop bar levers with those bars. I have cheap Tektro levers that are fine. I think dia-comp make something similar with gum hoods which might suite the bike.
-
• #48515
wouldn't look right with only one though imo.
of course he could have a dummy, but I'd rather just the one bar end lever.
-
• #48516
It would look like it would be comfortable and work.
:D
...but either way is ok.

Brake bridge is drilled, no reason to to have two brakes and therefore two levers.
-
• #48518
yes I'd noticed the drilled bridge... I would call aesthetics a reason, but then, different folks and all that.

Because he's riding with eggbeaters.

i snapped one side of my eggbeaters going up a hill on my road bike. Clever design, but shit in the long run and i'd never run them fixed.

I've rode spd-rs and time atacs, have come unclipped from both, scary stuff, hence why I run a brake.

Pompetamine frame and P2 fork with the unecessary bits removed, ready for shot blasting and clear coat.

New shiney bits. Hope Pro2 Evo hubs, Ritchey Classic Curve bars, Token chrome stem, Cane Creek S3 Headset, Tektro R200 levers and Panaracer Paselas.

You're running them way too loose then. I've never unclipped from any of them. Look pedals yes but nothing else. Just do the tension up a bit
-
• #48524
Well, i dont really want to run a rear brake, and think having only one level may look odd with the suggested style, maybe i should just try, i was considering a paul love lever, but, again think this may look odd.
Bit of a conundrum really, hence no brakes so far.

New saddle and tape - I figured I should take some photos while they're still white. And I finally took the ghastly Velocity stickers off.https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-XK3706EpWB8/TisXyY-IhqI/AAAAAAAABTc/47grS_PeEuw/_MG_5696.jpg
