I'm about 87kg clothed and that will hopefully go up to around 90-92kg by the end of the year, this won't be an issue will it?
Let's hope not, as I'm already 90-91kg. I've been riding the same pair of Ellipses for >5 years, which have basically the same spokes as the current Aksium.

Strange happenings with rear hubs seem pretty common on Mavics. But there are so many of them on the road, perhaps that's unfair. Broken spokes less of a problem.
I've ridden my Askiums through 3 winters. I'm only 60kg but they get ridden at night on shitty roads, so they've taken a their fair share of punishment. I've never broken a spoke, and I've only trued the front once – that's it.

No, the FTS-L freehub design is actually shit, if you want something which can go for years of all weather riding without maintenance. As long as you do the remove/clean/lube routine at intervals appropriate to your riding conditions they are OK, but if you leave them until they squeak they tend to eat the hub shell rather than anything easily replaced.

Working on this atm for a female friend... Trying to bring it in at the budget of £350 yet still making it quite nice.
I really like the Dura Ace cranks and a couple of pairs have been knocking about on here for cheap...

jambon, raleigh looks very good!
you know, when i was putting together my miyata, i decided to not to slam that stem, and it felt much comfier in the end - stretched out, but not too low. did you consider bringing that stem a bit up? -
• #48234
Cheers, in the past I've never slammed the stem finding it more comfortable about an inch out.
Now after spending quite a while on the track on a negative sloping top tube frame, it feels just right where it is.
It may also be the novelty of having a frame that's the right size, if anything it feels too high which is nice for my back :D -

withh and without zipp
just added pursuit bars and slightly shorter stem
thanks Mr. Call advice is much appreciated
-
• #48236

• #48237
Frame looks small according to the seatpost hight and that makes the
drop ridiculous - so indeed, please take a picture of your riding that! -

^ thanks and i know its not ideal but when something crops up even close to my size in the classifieds ill get it...this was the biggest ive seen for a while anyway
The bars are 26.4 and the stems come in 26.4 and 26.0, as far as I know. But that doesn't explain the bars being too slim in your case.. Make-shift Coke can shim?
