I'm a big fan of sporadic bunny rabbit ears.
Don't forget the elbow cups should elevate my forearms, so my hands will be higher up the bars. -

Bob finally making some progress. Only awaiting 600 arabesque cranks + noodles + dura-ace spd-R pedals + hoods for levers. Oh, and build the wheels properly. Ignore.. stem height, bars, saddle angle, brake pads, missing crank dust cap, mismatched pedals etc etc, just put together to keep the bits in one place.
anti-theft bike just had a clean (can you tell the difference!?) and saddle/bar angle tweak and newer front wheel (put so many miles on old one the bearing cups disintegrated. Damn thing is actually quite comfortable, when its in cities it has spoke cards with random/hideous things drawn on them. -

Finally got myself a steel track frame. Ignore the bars, seat etc, just threw them on to make it rideable for now.
Bought the frame off here, it's a bit of an odd one. From what i can gather, it was built under the name of Owen Blower, a racer from the 60s. The seller took it in to Argos cycles to get something removed and one of the mechanics told him that he'd been involved with building the Blower frames during the 80s, although he couldn't be sure when/where this one was made, although he did say they were always made from decent tubing. I've only found one other Blower frame online, and that's 531, so fingers crossed this one is too. It's got Shimano UFP 10 track ends, which seem to show up mainly on NJS builds, 3Rensho in particular. And, as you can see from the last picture it has 'Thomas' engraved on the seat stays, which just so happens to be my first name, which was a bonus.
Dont really have the funds at the moment to add all the stuff I plan to, but over summer the plan is to build a new wheelset up and gradually replace everything to make it look more period correct.

I never liked my Frogglegs. I thought the build quality was so-so, pad quality was severely poor and the design quite dated. Tried some Tektro in the frogglegs style (standard on a Giant CX bike), and they were much better imo. The arms were cast instead of being two plates pressed on to brass, the bridge was much stronger, pad mounting easily adjusted. Also, everything was allenkey where the Frogglegs are still using hex nuts. With the Tektro the springs can be screw adjusted (as you do on a V-brake
Thanks for this - really useful. I've been wondering what to replace the Frogglegs with on my S-Works Tricross and the Tektro sound ideal. The Frogglegs are spongy and next to useless.
According to the Zepnat website you can also adjust the angle of the pads on the Tektros, which, unbelievably, isn't possible on the Frogglegs

Been working on this project for quite a while, not really working but it isn't really a priority,
anyways it is starting to take shape now. Slack chain I know. Also snapped a picture of my beater this afternoon, pretty much finished, normally have a Fizik
Arione on it. Might get a Wound Up fork one day. Will post the others some time soon.

how so? on mtbs you always have them swept back and tucked in toward the frame to avoid getting caught on undergrowth etc. Is there a better way for road bikes?

beater? jesus.. nice though.
that bob jackson (brickman) is going to look great, i like the minimalist spoking arrangement.

On the front, the QR should follow the line of the fork and on the rear it would point forward following the line of the chainstay. Never have then crossing tubes as you can' get your fingers under there to undo them. Always done it like this on the mtb too and never got snagged on anything.

+1 on the fork line actually would make sense, though these old campag QR's don't have a definitive stop, they just keep rolling over (almost into the spokes?). Back end also can see the logic, though on mtb would never have them hanging down or facing forward, had incidents myself and others actually have had accidents because of it (though TBH the same branch destroyed the rotor too).

Yes, it seems to have been built to cover all options. If it were mine, I'd keep the under-bracket brake and leave off the one on the seat stays. The back brake on a TT bike is mostly decorative anyway, so it doesn't really matter if it doesn't work quite as well as the conventional one, and you can make mocking comments to anybody who has laid out £4k on a Shiv, P4 or Speed Concept about their bikes copying features yours had 20 years ago.
Do you know what's under that tape on the wings? It's obviously a bit late in the day to expect to find the original elbow cups, but if there are pairs of tapped holes you should be able to adapt any modern kit, which will probably be more comfortable than the OE pads.
Might be a stupid question - what brake does one use under the bb? It's not an issue at the minute (riding it fixed with an eno), but my Mercian has it's mount down there and I'm pretty sure it won't fit a standard caliper without hitting the cranks.

Are you kidding? have you seen how upright the extension is? it'll look like you're playing with a sporadic bunny rabbit ears in such awkward position.
