  • i've found some just involves a bit of skill

  • after a week or two on lfgss and will has decided against his visp. mind controlz

  • New rear discwheel

  • I see what you did there.

  • Can anyone recommended me a good budget cantis that doesn't feel spongy? I had the Avid Ultimate Shorty on the fixed wheel bicycle, work beautifully.

now trying to find a good budget cantis for another bike.

  • Tektro 520 or 720s are ok.

That's totally top end, and cheap. SLX will ride heaps better than a recycled coke can Visp.

  • chris king make the lowest stack one i think, but the tange passage is nearly as low and cheap.

Shimano 105 headset is pretty short too

  • ALAN build

    to be continued...

well i guess that's your sunday plans decided then. I am a bit jealous! which group is that?

  • C record mainly but with chorus calipers, pedals and seatpost. Started yesterday and would have got a bit further with it if I hadn't nearly pulled my arms out of their sockets trying to fit the bottom bracket

    thats what i thought.

  • Revs are pretty pointless, stick to Comps for cheaper and stiffer wheels which will be ten times easier to build.

I've been told the same by (one of) the best wheelbuilder(s) in Helsinki. No point really going revs, even 2cross comp is better than revs, he said (if I want lighter than 3cross comp). Went 3cross comp on my open pros and being really happy with them.

  • yey! it worked

28 spoke Comps are about 10% stiffer than 36 spoke Revs, and have about 7% less aerodynamic drag. The Comp wheels would be about 15g heavier for the pair, assuming equal rim weights, but with Open Pro or other double eyelet rims, this would be more than outweighed by the extra eyelets, which are heavier than the rim material removed by drilling.

  • yey! it worked.

How did you solve the problem in the end?

  • faced 2mm off of both - upper and lower headlugs

  • Nice, glad to see you stuck to your guns. Can't wait to see it finished.

  • hehe thanks
it is already finished! but my wife is "too tired" to go outside with me to help taking some pics...
