if you can't work out what parts you need to build a bike, you shouldn't be building a bike...
Bit of a dickhead response, everyone has to start somewhere.
Alex, have a look around the forum, all the info you need is somewhere on here. Use the search bar...

And we suggested, with various degrees of sarcasm, that he should start with an OTP. Nobody gets their ideal bike first time, so he might as well get on something which is ready to ride, since riding is the only way to find out what you really want from a bike.

'Updated' my RecordPro 7600s, UN91, DID chain, 7400 seatpost and frontbrake and a Corima rearwheel.
Still looking for some clips for the 7400 pedals and a DA stem.
I'll probably switch to some Syntace Stratos Zero bars later on..Next project: the garden..
looking sweet
garden is looks perfectly acceptable too, in that low light ;)

wasn't trying to be dickish, but as you said, there is enough information out there and if you have the ability to build a bike you should be able to work out what parts you need from just thinking or looking at a bike. i'd say do the research yourself and buy what you think looks good for the bike you want to build, instead of getting people on here to do the work.
Fair enough to share individual problems with the build, or opinions on the merits of a component, but to say give me a list of parts is a bit much.

Damn right. If you don't know what you want, cycle until you get a better idea.

that should be in the porn thread. -

or this
Nice. Giant using product shots of the bike with flat pedals - running the NoBrakes system. On a bike appealing to new cyclists that's a bit shitty.

I probably shouldn't show you an overview, Peter. ;)
Will, thanks. I'm still really pleased with it, but would it not have been my bike I wouldn't have posted it in Porn - too many things still of. -

i'd rather show wasps up my arse than ride that giant :o

Just finished this weekend. Pleased with the end result. Just had a quick spin and as you'd expect, it's bloody lovely.
Two points,
I would have liked to put italian gumwall clinchers on but the cheapest I could find were £40 a pop so those'll have to wait.Yes I know they're SPD's! They're all I've got at the moment too. I'll probably change to SPD-SL at one point although putting Shimano on this would be blasphemy right?

if you can't work out what parts you need to build a bike, you shouldn't be building a bike. Instead of asking us to list all the parts, just think about it, or go to a shop and look at the kind of bike you want to build and work it out.
