Sounds like a good plan! Yeah we probably managed at least an extra 0.2 miles over last time ha...
-
• #45828
yeah... at least!
cheaper alternative to kashimax exhibit A
FML!
Might see if i have an old mtb grip somewhere and cut that up...

good idea, but how would you get it on the tt though?
-

^i mean the grip, not that pencil case or whatever the fuck that is!

I used the extra bits of bartape you get for putting under the brake levers.. Works a treat:
Do excuse me for the bad phone picture.. People have commented they found the tt protector too large, but I could've left out a cm of electrical tape on both sides.. -

Pencil case.

On my "vintage" bike I used a bit of tweed wrapped around the tube and fastened with a big safety pin.

A piece of the thick rubber you usually have left over from light and computer brackets taped to the top tube on my race bikes.

just read somewhere on the tinterweb to buy a foot of 1inch clear plastic tube from a hardware store and cut it to fit, and cut it length ways to fit? bit of double sided tape on the inside to secure it?
as for the mtb grip, was going to cut it length ways, trim down the length, then wrap it round and stick a bit of tape to secure.
I'm liking this plastic pipe idea though.
rep given for pencil case comment!

Planet-x had those Kashimax tt protectors for sale at £10 not long ago!
Could you not just use some helicopter tape?
-
• #45837
bit of old inner tube wrapped tightly then taped on like bartape works well
-

A whole bloody inner tube. Or a spare one.
As rocked by Will, Psy and Scott. And I. -

IIRC, Freshtripe did/do a little sew-up leather band for the TT, cheap to diy. I got my kashimax off here for only a few quid. They are perfect for the job (being a little thick, sticky, rubbery covered metal clip) and they are easy to take on/off and will certainly never scratch/damage your frame, but definitely NOT worth £25+! like the nitto shim, it'll be the most disappointing thing to turn your hard-earned into.

Off eBay last week? If so AMAZING frame, can't wait to see it built
Yup. If all goes to plan it's getting a 9-speed ultegra group and mavic wheels (classics for normal use, cosmics for fun). Just need to collect the bits and figure out if there's any way I can avoid using a clamp on dt cable stop as there's currently only a small nub:

If you find a way let me know as I have a similar problem. Assume the nub is just there to stop clamp on shifters from slipping down the downtube under cable tension. I imagine you could run outer all the way to the front mech somehow, but not the prettiest... (nice frame - everyone loves an Aende)

Campag Veloce at £16. IMO worth the extra for the Token.
I think we need to ride to a pub that is farther away... that could be the key! at least we made a better effort than last time...
