If it doesn't say Easton on the tubes, the chances are it doesn't contain any Scandium, regardless of labels which seem to suggest it, as Easton have grabbed the vast majority of the very rare element which is released to the non-military market.
all the tubes of the both aluminium frames i have have the Easton logo on it and also the word "scandium"

Yeah, when I phoned Valdemiro he wanted me to go Scandium all the way, he's fascinated about it or summin.. He also does Carbon. I'd assume at very attractive prices.

Yes, your Easton bike contains about 0.5% Scandium. I was really having a dig at Deda for calling a 7003T6 tubeset SC61.10a, and unscrupulous manufacturers who don't go out of their way to correct people who surmise that their ScandAl frames might contain Scandium.

The 1st batch (of Scandals) apparently did.
But yes it's a bit cheeky.

If it's good enough for Merckx, it's probably good enough for you.

My work in progress daily ride..
Look track 55cm
DA Easton NJS post + San Marco Concor 14bikeco saddle
Sugino 75 cranks + MKS pedals + DA 46t 3/32
Campag Record H/S
Cinelli 115mm stem + CDM bars chopped&flopped
DA 7403 brake + Tektro cross lever
Deep V + Profile hub + 18t fixed/19t free + Phil spokes
Open Pro + Campag Chorus hubJust need some toe clips + straps, and to change the rear rim.
That's very nice. Did you bring the frame over yourself or find it in the UK?

i don't know about Merckx but it's very easy to see the differences between an aluminum frame and an Easton scandium aluminium frame. The weight is one of those differences.

It was brought over from Paris by Pistoffski, I bought it from him in LDN. I found another (albeit smaller - 54cm) in Cyclope Paris last week tho.. they wanted €1400 for a complete bike.. pretty rare right?

Rarely sold. I know if I had one I'd keep it! That one is my size so if you ever feel like selling... do let me know.

Nobody else worried about the provenance?
Was watching this. May have bid in the end. However, the frame had a really nasty hit to the left seatstay, wasn't sure quite how bad it was or not...hence why the frame went so cheap I guess.

Not necessarily. Deda U2 was typically a bit lighter than the contemporaneous Easton SC7000 tubeset. The later GX2 Easton tubes probably allow the gap to be made up, but CAAD10s are in the same ballpark with no Scandium. All in the 1100g area for a 56cm bare frame, but then the Scandium Merckx frames are nearer to 1400g as they are built for Roubaix toughness, not weight weenie contests, so weight is no real guide.

Yes, it looked a bit beat up from the earlier pic even without that, just seemed like a knowledgeable vendor would have got the BB out and sold it for 3 times what the frame got. I'm sure it's fine if the vendor has good rep, but from the first post it wasn't clear whether the £12 had been paid in cash under a railway arch :-)

blah blah blah
So basically makes the welds more durable?

That what I've read.

Must be one of those 'fit and forget ' parts that the vendor forgot was there!!

the paint had 3 days to dry before I clear coated it, I'll just 1200 grit and just take my time, as long as its roughly even that'll do, I've found clear coat can cover small marks quite well.
Why not put it back in the airing cupboard wrapped in cloth? For that all over look.

Not quite. It allows you to make a durable alu frame, out of traditionaly difficult to wield alu alloys. So you get a better (whatever that might mean) alloy, without the durability issues. As HerrTester also mentioned, it can also make building a less jarring alu frame, a bit easier.
The Koga Full Track Pro claims to be made of scandium enriched alu. Is it?

- Because it took the weight of the bike to make that mark, I can't really apply it all over.
- Its already cured a bit so its not enough soft anymore
- I don't want to risk the cloth sticking to it and pulling off the paint
- i dont like it.

That's what it says on the label (also on their high end road frames), but I haven't filed bits off mine and put them through the mass spectrometer to check. There's plenty available to file off, with the frame being >1500g in the smallest size, another example of using Sc without going all out for minimum weight.

And Kona make all their higher end mtbs in Scandium as well.

sorted, with roughly 0.7mm interference fit
you can see some explanation here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandium
the thing i can tell you is that a aluminium scandium frame is lighter than a "normal" aluminium frame. Also alot more robust. I say this only using my experience as argument
