  • I declare that you're a troll filibeto.

    Let's pretend he isn't anyway.

  • Като финал искам да се доближа до това..

  • Като финал искам да се доближа до това..

umm, not Russian/Ukrainian/Belorussian... which is it? Bulgarian?

  • Sorry, let me say this ..
As a finale I want to get close to it ..

  • yes it is
    Bulgarian that is

  • ne razbiram.

  • Вие сте щастливи трол?

  • Cheers for the offer Ed, but I'll be OK. I've put a self-imposed embargo on buying any bike bits for a while anyway, so it's parts bin or nothing.

  • This chat has been v. helpful, trying to decide on how best to build this up. Not, fixed as I've got three, fancied hub gear or your setup ed. Thoughts anyone?

    That is lush!

Why not just polished up classic campag record? DT shifters, high flange hubs, tan wall tyres etc

  • bang tidy :)

Glad you like it! Despite a small dip in the rear rim, it rides superb.

Suggested tyres are fine. I understand the aesthetic arguments, and have been a big proponent of period correct builds etc. However, I want to ride it and enjoy it, and frankly many "classic groupsets" are less than satisfactory when actually ridden, I tend to find the thrill wears off pretty rapidly.

Also the braze ons are for 5 speed only (single down tube boss and cable guides). I think I'm leaning towards 3 speed hub, classic record cranks etc.

  • I've managed a few thousand happy miles on 1970s dura ace... has proved very reliable. Only change was more modern brakes rather than the ineffective mafacs. 1x5 could work, or you can sneak on a 6 speed freewheel while noones looking. That with some nice porteurs, a brooks and matching grips... mmmm (first time i ever suggested a brooks..) would a hub gear not involve adding braze ons/clamps?

  • Finished painting the forks now for a few days curing on the boiler before they get a couple of clear coats

  • Fuuuuu I hope the wound ups fit the GT. PLEASE...

  • Is that a fade job or light trickery?

  • light trickery, the paint is metallic, Ford Purple Velvet aka pimp purple

  • gear cabling to be added, chain to be fitted

cockpit to be sorted, saddle height and angle to be adjusted (seatpost just stuck in for the purpose of mounting on the stand)

brake cables to be zip tied on

will probably return these forks to the soma juice and not have the soma as a fully rigid, long term i would like some better forks for this bike. also as they fit the soma i dont really want to cut them down

in the meantime i need a black spacer

sorry for blurry picture, i am not very steady on my dodgy leg right now

  • looks great, i really want an mtb.

  • Epic seatpost.

  • Joe, if you want a soma juice frame and that fork... i could be talked into a sale

or i may be selling my diamond back mojito rigid ss 29er

    both 18" frame

oz. seatpost is to be adjusted, but the fit should be near perfect once i get the tape measure out

lynskey spec the bike for a very long seatpost in order to get the standover, from their site "NEW for 2011! 27.2mm seatpost size (seatpost clamp included) : 410mm seat post recommended"
