I love steel without any paint but aluminium needs a paint job, darkish blue-grey imho. 2x9 too
that does not make sense, steel starts to rust very quickly, while aluminum oxidizes very slowly and can be polished up easily

You can do that but you'd need something like this instead;
Plus it did work - there are bicycle that have internal gear with double chainring.
hmm, that thing is so big I could almost use normal gears again, aesthetically it does not bring much advantage?
on the other hand, this would allow me to use a normal track wheelset in the frame... hmm.. -

Frankly, a two speed derailleur would've been better than a double crankset, if you're that worried about budget, I'd just go for a 1x8 (or 9/10) set-up.

Leave it raw and throw some black bits on it.
And yeah use the braze-ons, this frame needs gears. Or at least singlespeed. -

not about budget, just want to keep it visually as clean as possible, which is never easy with gears.
BUT yeah, I'll probably go for 2x8 or 2x9, the frame deserves it. -

It can be easy, the single chainring one is usually the best way, have a look at this set-up;
Due to your ninja edit - if you can, a double chainring with 8/9 speed rear is the best option.

that rear bridge just makes it something extra special
Definitely Special

^Do you think that's funny? It isn't.

Yeah but lacquer over either so it wouldn't really make any difference. I meant asthetically

I'd agree, it's not funny but this is the internet so just ignore it and move along. If MDCC tester thinks it ok to mock those with learning disabilities then more fool him.

There are WW certified scales?!
Dov- yep, got the pack with matching saddle and bar-tape.
Erm, twas a joke.
I sometimes weigh my bikes at work (polymerisation plant). Involves a little balancing though.

^ did you use 3/32 becouse of the weight?
no, the wheels have an 8 speed internal hub :)

BUT yeah, I'll probably go for 2x8 or 2x9, the frame deserves it.Why don't you decide what sort of bike you'd like, then make it? Why buy a frame and then use aesthetic principles to decide if it's a geared road bike or single speed bike?

I quite like the idea of approved scales, maybe a certificate of calibration signed be a renowned weight weenie?
Otherwise how would you truly be able to compare?
-
• #41667
One our labs biggest expenses is having all our scales approved. Consideringyou need two sets to be a proper weenie (small digital for parts, hang scales for complete bike), it would be very expensive. But then again these guys buying $700 brake calipers, could probably be bled some more........

I don't, but I do think it's OK to mock the seat stay bridge, and more particularly to mock the politically correct usage of 'special', which like every other politically correct euphemism has rapidly become a term of abuse in exactly the way that the PC Nazis were trying to eliminate by changing their vocabulary.

Perhaps adding a photo of people who obviously have Downs syndrome shouldn't be added to back up your argument? That is if we're talking about the changing emphasis of vocabulary? Or are we talking about laughing a people with Downs syndrome?

It will definitely be geared, and a city/town beater, that's what it was bought for. But this 'genre' can be realised in many ways as it's not very specific.

Why stoop so low? Wanna challenge a GM friend of mine who is diagnosed as being 'special' but can play you while blindfolded and with his back facing you?
Definitely Special

New frame arrived last week so built this up - just waiting on a chain. Will give it a blast at HH this weekend all being well.
And yes, i know the valve is in the wrong place on the front wheel, i laced it up half asleep and can't be arsed to change it yet.

great bar tape. where'd you get it?
