Love the look of the shogun.
What caliper is that?
Looks fairly long drop to me.
I'm after a Damn long drop for my current project. It`s Shimano Tourney N.O.S from 1983 - ebay

We were discussing Zero Gravity brakes then- are all lightweight brakes suitable only for flat countries?
No not all .. Bram M5 on raw stopping power alone claim 4 to 6 times better than the Dura Ace and Campagnolo Record brakes .. I can unweight my rear wheel by lightly squeezing the front brake lever from the top of the hoods.
Check out this thread for some reviews on lightweight brakes ..

Hmm, really going into the realm of vanishing returns now it would appear.
I'm going to stick to either Shimano or SRAM brakes I think as I do not want to compromise at all in terms of stopping power.
SRAM Force brakes are 280 grams versus the 335grams for my Ultegra's.
I'd be chasing 50g savings for £120.
Maybe time to stop!

The ww brakes I mentioned were negative G not zero G. The negatives have beefier arms and a reworked funtionality. It made them a bit heavier, but vastly improved caliper return, centering, initial braking force, and subsequent ramping. I'm pretty keen on getting some. This is partly due to the fact that such a Si-Fi looking caliper would look great on a BMC though.
BTW that stem looks seriously sexy on the S6 front end. I can see why you would'nt change it.
If you're swapping brakes, bars etc. Why not just swap to nokon/ aligator cables.

heavy frame/fork. start again?

I'm not sure what the frame weighs- I don't think it is that heavy.
I like it, and I'm keeping it.

Hi, first post here.
Just wondering if anyone knows of anywhere that sells non-aero gum brake hoods. I've having a nightmare trying to source some from the UK for my weinmann levers.
Those seem to fit, but i can only find them from the US.

All I can find is the Velo Orange one from Freshtripe, admittedly not the gum hoods itself but they do sell the classic non-aero brake.

Not sure if there's any advantage to gain with that change, maybe going for a good poop may make a difference.

I miss time trials, and I can't afford a whole other bike at the moment. Maybe I'll keep the bits it's built with at the moment too, so it can have tt and non tt modes.

Those are the standard titanium version, which you can find in the US for down to $350. The more recent tuned versions (GSL) cost around $400. On US EBay I've seen a few new GSL's go for $300 BIN, and this how I was planning on getting mine (I have to pay international post, and look out for customs charges regardless of UK or US).
Its of course not really fair comparing US and UK prices, so if the one listed are in good condition, they could be worth it. Basically as you're avoiding importing them, and they're probably not that common in the UK. Still would'nt pay much more than the current price personnally though.

Checking my EBay just revealed I missed out on my SR levers.
Buggerit, bloody geared projects and their thousands of components.Pfffft. Might order my Roto 3D crankset tommorrow to keep things moving.

Budget SS Project for a mate:
Took a lot more work than I expected, actually turned into a complete strip and rebuild took almost 2 hours dammit! Must have been Emmelles flagshipmodel with 4130 frame and 400LX group. It's alright and will serve it's role of neglected work hack perfectly.

Ordered ;)
Felt very excited. Then dirty and ashamed.
Finished my single speed dirt jumping budget/ish bike yesterday.
I've riden for about half an hour and can't get used to suspension, *so *weird.
If tester and ChrisMGS are reading this, cheers for your help on the build, much appreciated.
