  • My klunkers!

Thought I would post these up in here V. Quiet in birmingham forum!

My first conversion! Now gone to be converted back to geared by its original owner!!

I sold him the frame back to purchase this OLMO From sprockets any Info on this bike warmly appreciated I know nothing of it or its history bought as a single speed frame has no braze ons.
Currently being stripped for a repaint and alloy polish session!!
Frame is being repainted by Mercian in Derby... A bit excessive maybe for a bike that I have no I dea of the value of... I f it has any at all but I bloody love riding it!! Its a keeper!

This is my girlfriends Kalkhoff I rescued lovely old shopping bike and saved me having to repaint her last bike Green!

My daily Commuter! Yes she has gears but to be frank all I have done over the winter is squirt oil at them and no problems thus far despite the much mallingned Helicomatic rear hub!

And finally my latest little project I picked up this old Dawes frame for next to nothing on evil Bay Hop to make a nice little cruiser... Think Moustach bars and Whitewalls!!
Currently at the powder coaters being painted black... My Guvnor Replica!!

Does any one know what size seat post would fit the Dawes... I tried my 26,8 but its a touch to big?
Im also after a nice low geared front cottered chainset as I plan to cruise this baby with no brakes.
    Cheers.
    Stu!

  • Update on my two current projects;

    Langster Steel
Running perfectly, just added an Ultegra 6700 Front Brake. Picture before and after some grass/gentle off roading

    P-X Exocet
Position now dialled in (pic taken before this), taken it out for two short rides ready for some real usage back in Devon

  • Can you give me your gmail username and password please? so I can see the picture?

    doesnt show, ah!

  • nice twins!

  • have you been allowed to post these pictures?

  • taken off! just in case...

  • Nice, but shame the forks have road legs.

  • I've been working on my Clamont pursuit bike for a while now and its starting to come together. Full Suntour Superbe Pro group-set sans the front wheel. Excuse the lack of foot retention but its not complete yet...

  • I have a photo of that very clamont saved on my laptop. It's pretty much my dream frame.

Surely you can do better with the front wheel though?

  • Yeah that Corima is off a buddies bike. I have a Shamal front but need to put a new tub on it. I would love an Ayara to match the rear tho....

  • hiya

i've laid my hands on some interesting campa record titanium seatpost, but apparantely it comes w/o some parts =)) please see pic below.
now, i've tried some parts from other (non-campa) seatposts i have at home, but they wouldn't fit
basically, i need that top part, which would fit. please help - of someone has it, know where to get it, or know how to correctly ask for it. thanks!

I have the same clamp/fitting on a Campag Record Crabon Seatpin. I think there might also be a cheaper Chorus version (but don't quote me on that) They crop up regular on Ebay, and browse the forums, if you can get a battered, scratched up post cheap enough to make it worth having for the clamp and bolt, winner.

  • ^cheers

  • Hope you get it sorted. Looks like a lovely post, is it laser etched?

  • yep =))
and it cost me like GBP3? =))
but now i'm paying back for lack of the clamp...

  • Ha, a bloody bargain! good find

  • Gonna give her the "silver" treatment she deserves. Looking for nitto seatpin, chris king 1in (silver or pink) and a pair of vintage suntour/sugino mighty pista cranks. Also replacing the wheelset.... drop me a PM if you have anything "low profile" nice, might be persuaded.

  • That is ace! Looks well ridden, like they should be.

  • After packing in the smokes and looking to lead a healthier life I´ve exhumed my late 1940´s Maclean that I last used regularly 12 yrs or so ago. I originally bought it in ´75 from the sort of cycle shop that seems to have vanished. It had a fixed wheel but due to the back clearances II was able to fit a 5 block. Now I feel it deserves a sympathetic restoration with more original parts.

  • eddie, nice to see you gave in to those moustache town bar!

  • eddie, nice to see you gave in to those moustache town bar!

its a bit easier on your back with a heavy bag, and sitting higher up helps in traffic. Doesn't affect the speed much, still nippy and goes like stink

  • nice work on the nag eddie, out of interest where did you pick up the frame?

  • ^Only two!??
