  • I make the seat tube angle on the Rudge 63°, that's almost a recumbent.

I think Bauer used 65° on his Paris-Roubaix special:

It feels nice on the road, but the headtube angle gives a bit too much trail which encourages the front end to flop from one side to the other quite easily at low speeds. Just encourages you to go faster!!!

  • Finally got my wheels on, been busy getting a new kitchen fitted in time for Christmas!!

    V nice Mat.

  • Love the Nag, really nice.

  • Fathers Christmas brought me some White bartape some white look sprinters and some Mavic stickers.

  • I see you gave into the peer pressure on the gold chain front...

No to be honest it's the noisiest chain I have ever ridden and this chain has been used with the cranks and cog so has worn in with them so rides much better.

  • So you content KC?or are there still tweaks to be made? This build has been a fair while in the making, perfect day for it to all come together! Looks terrific as well.

I think thats it I now have my dream bike and as you say came together on a great Day I may treat myself to a sexy front wheel which I will pick up from the Velodrome sale in a couple of weeks,I have just found out though it's banned from UCI comps for being to light lol

  • Ha, awesome. What is it?

LOL Not sure one of the coaches at Manchester told me somebody had been DQ after having her BMC weighed I guess you could make it hevier for UCI events like the Masters.

  • O, I thought you meant the new front wheel you're going to buy is banned for being too light.

  • I have just found out though it's banned from UCI comps for being to light lol

Get some steel bars, that should sort it out. There are some beefier stems which would help with the last 50g if it's still too light. Oh, and Wippermann 1R8 chain is a right porker too, as well as being quite the loveliest track racing chain £20 can buy.

  • Does the wight have to be part of a piece of the bike? You couldn't add weight to say the under side of the saddle?

I think you can add ballast, but it's better to make use of the extra weight to stiffen a bike or improve its aerodynamics rather than just waste it. For example, increasing the front rim depth from 50 to 100 would add weight and stiffness and reduce aerodynamic drag, while strapping 250g of lead to the underside of the saddle would only add weight.

  • is there any way i can get my computer to automatically post " ^what he said +1 " under all of mdcc_tester's posts?

It would be a high risk strategy; sometimes I talk bollocks. I've even been known to do so deliberately when I think people are becoming complacent about assuming I know what I'm talking about :-)
