Finally have managed to put my road frame together. Many thanks to Chaz for the great frame. Need to spend a while setting up seat/gearts/bars but should be there soon.

^ Looks Ace - Jaygee be jealolus
Needs carbon cranks to finish it off

looks great, when I get enough together to get a frame built it'll be a roberts. why the "compact" geometry, if thats the right term? (sloping top tube and long seatpost)

@skully, that looks great, is that your old/dales red one?
Yep
Fancy makeover innit

+1 You gotta love a roberts. Nice decals ... i.e. almost invisible.

Nice Skully! Any progress on the wheel build? I reckon you'll put those on that frame..
-
• #38307
Cheers, well since I was building it up in mainly carbon parts thought I might as well go for the modern look with the slight additional stiffness and strength you get with the compact.

Lovely frame Skully.
Argos did a great job.

beautiful saronni red finish on the butler skully
-
• #38312
nice!
where's that?High Wycombe, just in the park outside my flat. To be honest I only rode around for a few minutes as the gearing is too high for the powdery snow. Gonna put a lower gear on tonight and go and have some snowy fun in the morning.

Ditto on my Azonic, although my gearing is already low enough.

What kind of gear inches do you run out of interest? I know sheldon recommends about 35 for off road, I can get about 41GI if I put my 28T cog on the back, any lower than that and I'd have to use my 32T chainring which is pretty knackered.

I'll be going down by the totally flat Jubilee River, so normal summer gearing of 27/14 with 20psi in my 26x2.3 tyres comes to an effective gear of about 48"
-
• #38316
Cool, I'll give the 28T a go then.
-
• #38317
Almost there
-
• #38318
dope!! love it
what have you got left to do?
-
• #38319
that is ace.

Chrobin, you and the bike are both crazy and amazing. Well done!

Steel is the nicest color for a bike.
Did think seriously about a clear coat but decided the stainless dropout would look strange...
Also not so good at protecting the frame as full powder. -

Can anybody tell me which frame/who made this bikes?? I presume were made in Germany/Austria in the 70's since still has "SACHS" gears and not "Sachs-Heuret" as they were branded post 80's.

Looks a bit different to this now but I can't decide on Ergo's or Downtube shifters?
Ergo's are more practical but the downtube are more aesthetically pleasing
