@ hugo - short dropouts a pain - ideally i'd have long closed loops - like the road dropouts but closed - so you can let the rear wheel slop about a bit whilst walking it forward back ward to change gear with your hand, but i've sorted that with bodge as seen (old hanger is closing the gate - stopping rear wheel dropping out - track rear end would have sorted this great, i still may get them put on ). it was supposed to be getting long road or track rear end as it was broken but my friend fixed the dropout there. ideally i'd like 35/15 on middle - same as my favored 42/18 and also making all 3 gear combos add up to 50t so meaning v. similar position of clamping the QR - i'd give myself another one link in the chain and then be able to get it much looser for the gear changes. i've put out 'wanted' for 35t 86 or 110 bcd - and i'l make a new rear cog cluster .but it is working very well really. can probably do gear change in 20 / 30 seconds , maybe even less
rides great, only taken for minor shake down only finished today, still a few aesthetics to sort too - black bar tape - a bit of paint on rear etc. i've designed a wedge in my head that when thrust between rear tyre and chainstay bridge should both center and tension the rear wheel simply by moving the bike backwards as wedge gets pulled in by rear tyre - might build that to make it easier to change gear
, everyrthing's been set up to make the gear change quick and easy as poss. i've stopped rear wheel being able to fall out once QR is loose, and made and derail guards for the front and rear smallest cogs (like and anti chain suck device ). rides great , very slight twang on top gear - needs more shim in outer chain wheel (or i might just 'sharpen' the smallest cog teeth a little )
i'm thinking of doing the tour of the peak ride on it -

I've just finished building a winter trainer as it is that time of year. It's got mudguards to keep my bottom dry and it's got re-chargeable lights to keep me seen and to see with. It's also got a sick ass powertap because I'm fly as fuck, etc....

Weird day, went out looking a frame to build a porteur.
Got offered a wee folding bike cheap as chips, so took it.
almost finished stripping standing frame :)

I don't know... I don't use risers. I guess I didn't want anything too silly in terms of sweepback.
Also need 25.4mm rather than OS. I should just stop being cheap, but I'm trying to keep this one to a bit of a budget.
and as for these....
....well thats just silly!
I quite like those. Mega sweep bars are great as long as you don't have too many hills to climb (imo)

have you? why don't you post a pic?
Best one I can find, it came with the bike so don't know who made those;

Have been thinking about the mary for my hybrid. I was going to go with a midge but would have to change levers and possibly shifters. Didn't really fancy spending that much! The Mary bars might be the answer...

Those won't work for me.
I'm after something more retro circa 2008/9 risers, but post Ourys...prolly around the champs/vstrong era.
Anyway as luck would have it I just picked up some cut down OS easton risers for my condor... Only to find when I got home I'd been a spaz and they were 25.4 :0 (all the vicarious solvent abuse from stripping my frame has clearly take it's toll)
So I the end I turned a fail into a win and I can go to bed happy.
ps in case anyone is curious you can shim a cinelli to 25.4.

Oh for a quill stem?
Why not ask the forum if they have any stem lying around for your bar instead? (25.4-26mm clamp sized stem).

bike over the bed, that's kinky! Got any mirrors on the ceiling? ;-)
-
• #35469
heh it's the guest room, so I don't need to worry about my shodding workmanship causing bikes to fall in the night. No mirrors on the ceiling, and those ones on the wall are coming off to make way for more bikes.

SA newly released 2 speed kickback coaster hubs, no need for any wiring.
1500g for the hubs alone, but with two speeds and a coaster brake, it's pretty good.

Are these made out of antlers?
-
• #35473
Yes, there is a special breed of deer that always produces antlers in exactly that shape. The breed is called the Ragley deer.

Those Ragleys are fecking brilliant. I've been mulling over getting some for the 29er. I'm not convinced they will work as well a flatter bar on the rough stuff though. Kevlar wrapped carbon for great
marketingstrength and resiliance. -
