they're definitely something worth having a crack at. if you try the hammer method, use a length of metal pipe underneath to absorb the impact and properly hit the fucker first time. i fannied around too much and mushroomed the pin, ended up taking it off with an angle grinder.
good luck

if you're just going to bin the BB and crankset, have at it with an angle grinder

I may be wrong, but i think you need to look at your cranks......i think they are a spline out......could be wrong tho'.
Nope their right on...
But the spindle is twisted. Happened when I snapped my bmx :)
I have finished that bike for now. (apart from the front hub) It rides so nice.

So I just go for it with an angle grinder? That sounds like fun.
Can anyone recommend a decent crankset, something cheap and solid that will fit in the place of the soon-to-be-chopped-to-bits one?

Want something like this instead...
Be warned that the Truvativ Isoflow is designed for MTBs, and therefore has a 51mm chainline. Also uses the proprietary Powerspline BB, so you'd be taking a punt on long term availability of replacement BBs, and there won't be a short BB ab initio to get a sensible chainline.

That's useful to know, thanks. I'm after something beefy like that though.
Want to be able to use it now, then migrate it to another frame when this one fails. It will fail, it's full of rot and is going to play polo...
So I need it to fit this ancient old thing and the new one.

truvativ powerspline is what I use on my fixed, was able to run it with a DA track hub, you can get a 108mm and a 113mm BB, if you're lucky, one of those will fit your chainline. I thought they also did a third length but can't find it

Bugger me, powerspline on a fixed?
It's the weakest, softest, shittest spline system ever. -

NIce bike Six. Sort the bar angle out though (the bar ends should point towards the rear brake bridge).
P.S. Why the downtube shifter?

Thanks, sorted the angle out after photo was taken.
Shifters are cosmetic, didn't look as nice with the stumps. Didn't want to remove braze on's so I can make it geared in the future.
