If you like it better that way, you've added value. It's just that you are going against the dominant market opinion, so any value you have added for yourself in terms of pleasure of ownership cannot be realised in cash if you decide to dispose of it. It was only a mongrel puppy with a poor temperament that you murdered, so not much value destroyed anyway.

Thanks, i'll get reading.
Also, does anybody know where i can buy the rubber bit at the top of the brake lever? no idea what they are called but mine are wrecked and i'd like some new ones.
I'd suggest getting a whole new set of levers. Hilary has loads available at varying prices:

Where does the term actually come from? I like to think its from cutting a derralieur hanger off being similar to cutting a puppies tail off - I know I'm totally wrong though. It's a funny image though

Thats kinda what I thought anyway, the rescue from Mum's garage was prior to clearence so would have gone to the skip anyway and I was never going to do a restoration but I am going to use it as a test bed for some lighting ideas i have built into the frame and 'frenched in' and will be on a budget, so I was only ever going to (in most of your eyes) 'butcher' the frame but as it was worth very little to start with I thought it would better pissing around with, than the other two frames I have in reserve namely Genesis Flyer, and an old Pug frame that was rescued at the same time as it was my Dads but very deinately will be restored......So yup it is sacrilage but could have been so much worse !!
Due for a restore....

Awesome... Stick an engine in it? ;]
You're so right man! Get a small engine, 50cc and stick it into that frame! It would be beyond cool man! Or one of those pedal-motors, some custom Stainless pipes and you'd be rocking!

I picked this up a few weeks ago and now have it completed. I picked it up for $160 from craigslist. I bought it as an investment and will be selling it. To bad I live in the USA . It has a reynolds 531 fork from a Schwinn Paramount. Well how do you think it came out.

That looks suitable.
Whats the deal with BMX BB + cranks, my tiny mind says if it's a Euro BB then the bearings/cups and crank axle will fit into a 68mm MTB BB shell, even allowing spacing of the chainring? So it just a matter of staying away from Mid and Standard BBs, Or is there some other magic going on?
I have a 107mm square taper in at the minute, and chainline issues mean it's going to have to stay that length, any ideas on spacing a coaster hub sprocket out? -

Hang on a cotton pickin minute, you took that wicked 'triumph' head tube decal off too. That was your biggest mishtak. I couldn't give a fuck about the braze-ons.

BMX cranks are completely adjustable (profile 19mm / primo 22mm). You can change the shell width (cut the tube spacer) and chainline to suit anything.

My bikes - BJ Vigorelli and S & M LTF. Both well used and loved. BJ's decked out in its new summer outfit.
More pics of todays fun removing the 'braze on' bits so guess i'm gonna have to spray now Ed, but I wanted to go for a bright orange anyway like the Ford Focus ST colour, and have a contact who will spray a prepped frame for me for a drink so think it will look nice may leave the forks black though, and carry some more black details through the build
