Oooh! That's a cool looking frame! Nicer than a normal straight-tubed mixte IMO, but lighter than a dutch-framed town bike. What are your plans for it?
it is pretty light, don't know exact weight..
plan is to make nice single speed. white frame, fork and fenders, nice leather saddle and grips.
only problem i got is crank set. it is two piece crankset, shell is threadless, what can i put in there? threadless BB? what dimmensions are those?
and one other thing, missus hates coaster brake, i need cheap 28" freewheel wheelset..anyone? -

Fo shizzle, in a totally eco-madmax kinda way. awesome.

fuck, the sprocket is 1/8", so even though I found a single crankset that suits it I can't go for a test ride. And i dont' got any pedals.

I can see that, I need to find a more post-apocolyptic place to live. Thanks though.

drop that crank, don't suit it, and prolly shit too

It's got an Exile motorbike look about it.

That's all I had in the shed (don't know what they are from), apart from a double from an old Peugeot, I'm struggling to not get cranks from a Schwinn Shit-ray.

Do you not have 1/8th chain lying around?
I can imaging a white industries crankset would look awesome on it, obviously a bit too expensive though.

I was just looking at gusset pygmy axle, as more heavy BMX stuff will probably look good on it.

Hi Guy's I'd just like to share my latest project with you; the donor bike was the first bike I ever bought myself (a BSA “The Prima”) in 1979. It was made by Raleigh, but may have been built in the Carlton Factory in Worksop before it closed down.
The frame is a 3 tube 531 and had relatively new cotter-less cranks and 12 gears! It served me well for around 6 years before I gave it to my brother in law. Having acquired it from his garage where it has been languishing for some time,
I decided to convert it to fixed gear and have just got it back from powder coating (The colour is RAL7006).
This was done by Windridge Coating ( www.windridge.co.uk/content.php/410) as they were able to fill in the dents in the frame before powder coating (something other powder coaters told me couldn’t be done?).
Anyhow, I got the frame back today and it is great (Dale at Windridge even re-tapped the BB after coating), so I just wanted to share it with you all............
The finnished bike (I'm sooo pleased with it!)

you will also need to be lucky with the chain length won't you?
That has vertical dropouts by the look of it?
-
• #31189
That is fucking amazing. Well done! Just use a 1/8" chain, the chainring will be alright. Reminds me of this >> ... Be sure to fit a massive headlight on it like a motorbike ...
I reckon you were riding around on a 'normal' bicycle one day and then this song happened to you:

I have been looking for a fuck-off big headlight, Also a Brooks/Lycett/whatever brown sprung saddle, brown leather grips and maybe spray the forks matt black.

That has vertical dropouts by the look of it?I'm planning on using a gusset slink chain, half links make it easier to get lucky.

Great! Mbike headlight for the win! You should be able to find one in a scrap yard or similar.
You should get the sprung brooks that has the coil spring on the front as well, the B33 or B135 ...
I reckon the forks are great silver.
How about a pair of these?

looks like a US custom chopper
nice
what are the forks by the way beefy as f*ck -
• #31194
damn, this is valid question for this chopper - what's the plan for chain tension?

magic gearing?

Awesome... Stick an engine in it? ;]

Definitely leave the forks chrome. They look really good as they are. Try and find a gear that is as close to the tension you want, then use a tensioner if needs be. It's not a problem when it's singlespeed, just doesn't look quite as nice.
*There might be enough dropout to file in a bit of horizontal to get the tension, if you don't mind hacking at the frame a little. -
• #31199
Its a problem when using a coaster brake though, cant use a tensioner with a coaster, and you need good tension for it to work, especially if its your only means of stopping.
Personally i would put a fuck off hydro downhill disc on the front.

OFFS he's using a half-link chain, it'll be fine. ~~ Do you really need super tight chain tension with a coaster? ~~ I'm certain we will Scolblatronned in this matter shortly:
