  • (Get a King, get a King, get a King)

  • what kind of fork crown does that ^^ Waterford 2800 Track have ?

very nice frame, a real beaut.

  • (Get a King, get a King, get a King)

have some rep.... chris kings are fucking awesome.

  • There actually isn't a better headset.

  • cant believe youre repping someone for getting Chris Bling, and not what they said or wrote ;-)

(the rear hubs are pure sex though true, sweeter sound than any...)

  • There actually isn't a better headset.

The only headset which is close (or according to some better) is this one

That's exactly what I was going to say. King quality bearings + a proper split collet centring mechanism, rather than the Chris King O-ring.

are you jelous? you want some rep too? :)

and yes the hubs are "pure sex", at some point i'l have a build with ck hubs, ck bb, and a ck headset. mmmh

  • RE: The Cane Creek...

Still not a King, is it?!

seriously, that would be some bombproof shit. on a ti frame,
    (blatantly dreaming......)

  • I have Cane Creek track wheels and the bearings in them make my DA and Phil Woods feel like pepper mills by comparison.

  • RE: The Cane Creek...

Get over it. There is a significant flaw in the CK design caused by their refusal to pay royalties to Cane Creek, who own the patent on the split collet centring mechanism. For many years, the sheer superiority of the CK bearings was enough to make us ignore that, but now that Cane Creek have upped their game on bearings, there is a swing away from CK.

Spread some rep around, before giving it all to MaxCrowe ;-)

    Thanks dude

I'm running a Stratos because i had a crash and didn't want to shell out 400 clams for a new custom fork. Honesly this one rides nicer and is much stiffer. It also has less rake and length. A bit heavier though. I had it sprayed to black, but sort of wish i still had it pink for rats sake

this is the fork (click to enlarge):

Not dissing CC, because they make great stuff, but we're talking about threaded headsets and the grip nut is superior to any i've seen.

As you know, you are 100% correct. It's still always going to be CK for me, though.

The Gripnut is great for what it was designed for, but I reckon the 2nut is the better of the two. Apparently the Gripnut is a pain in the ass to adjust and not being able to use spacers with it limits your fork options, without having the steerer cut to the perfect length.

  • ok so if you're lazy and want to run spacers, then fine But cutting your fork is like bike building 101.

Furthermore, the stack height is adjustable by 5 mm (33.0-38.0). So it doesn't have to be anywhere near perfect. I mean i just ordered a used fork from another country based on mine and some other nonenglish speaking dude's measure measurment and it fit beautifully. I was prepared to cut the steerer, but i didn't need to. You can have the top nut screwed down all the way (33mm) or at its minumum (38mm).

sorry for the shitty writing in that paragraph. my editor is out of town.

Finally, you can literally adjust it with your hands and it will hold for ride across town. thats how beautiful the design is. I'm sure MDCC will come back with some numbers or something, but i think it's a beautiful design.

  • It's only a fugging headset

  • ^ You wouldn't be saying that if you had a Chris King.

  • chris king envy is a terrible thing, friendships are lost as a consequence :)

  • Yup, Chris King envy destroys lives.
