If I were you, leave it as it is, it'll look even lovelier once the weather wear it down, and then varnish it eventually.
A la this;

Use marine varnish, ie as used on boats. Much higher quality finish, and weatherproof. You can still buy it in most DIY places.

current project.
Casati Road Bike
Bad news is someone puppy killed it and the braze ons need put back on incl rear hanger.
Good news is i get to do some crazy inside tubing cable routing. Custom bitch!brakes and wheels only for the photo.
I am looking for an ENTIRE 2008-2010 Campagnolo Centaur,Chorus or even Record Groupset. Please let me know if you have anything.another project on the go is a swamp beast alpinestars MTB!
i want to make this thing on the cheap but bombproof for those days when you have to cross a fucking field. -

^the side the skewer is pointing out is irrelevant to which way round the wheel is - and it can go either way anyway.
sorry if i missed something.
Depends on the tyre. Some are directional.

Two great looking bikes Eddie. I loved those Alpinestar frames when they first came out and lusted after one.
If you contact Casati directly they'll probably have a gear hanger for you (assuming you can refit it following the puppy slaying).

i don't exactly follow the math, because it sounds like you can get a chainline X+1mm and that really should be perfectly fine... eitherway, i would measure it carefully and fix it.
Thanks jersey for replying! When i tried to measure the chainline i noticed that the chain, i think, is too tight.. maybe is that the the problem for the noise.? How tight must the chain be.?

Email them at casati@ciclicasati.it - Stefania, who works in the office, speaks excellent English so no need to mess around with Google translating.
