frame looks very clean hoops - which Martin do you mean? hardly a beater though - come now, that was just you being a bit bling wasn't it..
-
• #26753
surely if you were looking to make it more comfortable you would flip the adjustable part around so that you would be less stretched out?
-

It was broken77(?) Martin's. It was involved in a bike/curb interface but was a damn good price.

from what I can remember Ed's been on about one of those stems for a while. not to my tastes, but i've seen a hell of a lot worse in this here thread.

ah, maybe photographed from its good side.. still too nice lookin' to be a beater though..

• #26757
It's for looks, not comfort

yes!
Mr.777the tt & dt have very slight ripples... it was crashed into a curb.
Ross made some new forks for it, with slightly more rake to counter-act the slightly steeper head tube..... hence why it's a beater.... well, it cost the same as, and is replacing my old beater at least!
the paint isn't as good as it looks in the photo. -

really like the black forks and rear triangle on that Raleigh.

the paint isn't as good as it looks in the photo.if the steerer tube is steeper, increasing the rake would decrease the trail and reduce the self centering and increase the twitchyness and decrease stability?
im not sure if im right here but i think i am. -

pretty much the point of those stem beside the ability of adjusting your position is to flip it upside down for an upright position, just like the purpose of the Nitto stem;

And this is Rob's Raleigh in it's 100% original condition;
Ed, surely if a pot is calling a kettle black, the pot needs to be before the phone? Doesn't make sense the way it is there. But I worked it out anyway because I'm clever.
"you're calling the pot kettle black".
work this out you clever cog.

So I replaced the cogs in my cassette on the Tom Crowther last night, because one of the gears wasn't engaging and the other was slipping like a motherbitch.
Found one cog with FIVE consecutive missing teeth. This country.

Built this up on saturday.
I'm not really in to old 531 lugged frames... but i've always loved the old Raleigh's, i've been looking for one in my size for a while... so jumped at the one Martin had for sale.makes a great little beater!
Sweet as fuck. Glad you got it.

• #26774
I also resent the fact that you call that a beater.

It's a damaged old steel frame. It's not exactly a sunday bike.
hoops logs off to put front tyre on again
